Re: Best Food in New York/New Jersey/Connecticut

come on people.. anyone?!?!!?

sara, afro, njgal???you girls know your NY/NJ inside out, please share your thoughts!

Re: Best Food in New York/New Jersey/Connecticut

yes - Kabab King has several locations. The Kabab King Diner in the heart of Jackson heights is open 24 hours.

No it's not a buffet. Prices are very reasonable.

It's pretty safe. I wouldn't keep valuables in the car but no one is going to bother you - if you are walking around the main shopping/resturant area even at 4 a.m. I have ate there on numerous occations while dropping ppl of at LGA or JFK at odd times in the morning and at night.

I wouldn't wander in the residential streets though.

Re: Best Food in New York/New Jersey/Connecticut

Thanks a lot.. I just had to call your name out for this.. sorry for asking so many questions but really we come from a town where even the 711 closes at 9PM and there is concept of 24 hours service so had to get this straightened out.. thanks a lot :-)

Re: Best Food in New York/New Jersey/Connecticut

GTG - np :)

I was spoiled with a 24 super supermarket market that even sells tractors at 2 a.m

Re: Best Food in New York/New Jersey/Connecticut

Re: Best Food in New York/New Jersey/Connecticut

What are some good restaurants (good food, moderate price) in the village area?

Also a reallly good afghan kebab lace (afghan seekh kebabs with pulao and some yummy yogurt chutney)....in NJ...specifically Northern NJ? Advise please

I love the "Pasta"

Re: Best Food in New York/New Jersey/Connecticut

I'm looking for a good Arabic Sweets store in Central Jersey even North NJ is fine (Baklava, Knafe, etc), hopefully Muslim owned. I need to make lots of orders. Any recommendations?

Re: Best Food in New York/New Jersey/Connecticut

HomiD- The one I know of is

Nablus Pastry & Sweets
1050 Main St Paterson, NJ
07503-2212
973-881-8003

You can also get good baklava trays from sams's clubs

Re: Best Food in New York/New Jersey/Connecticut

I would be visiting Jackson heights soon for a very short period. The idea is to have break fast lunch.

Any ideas for Breakfast other than Sheereen Mahal.
Lunch??/ Is Deira or Handi near to Kabab King??

Re: Best Food in New York/New Jersey/Connecticut

My experience with Deira was not good last time I was there. The quality of food is unpreditable.

Deira is the next block from Kabab King.

Heard good stuff about haandi.

where is Haandi... also what about breakfast?

Dera is bad and so is the one opposite it, Karahi Grill. They both used to be called Roti Boti. You are better off with Kabab King for both breakfast and lunch. However, if you dont want a sit-in place in Jackson Heights, I would recommend Kababish for Lunch and their Lahori Tikka and Gola Kabab. CoolBreeze, PM me if you need more info. Kababish is not a family sit down place. If you're alone you might find a spot there.

Thanks. Is Nablus Muslim owned business?

I'll contact you soon.

I had Gyro at this place on my most recent trip to New York:

Simply awesome. I don’t know the exact location but it appeared to be quite popular.

Well, time for me to add my updates.

Bukhari on Coney Island Avenue, btwn Ave H and Foster Avenue...has the best biryani. Well the best i've ever had so far :D

Papa's halal fried chicken, also on Coney island...their fried chicken tastes much better than the typical halal freid places here....

For thsoe who like thai/desi style chinese...i recently visited a place called "Spiced". its in Astoria, Queens. The food is delicious and the portions are good for hte price. Definitely a good place to take your family or friends.
