Re: best baby bottles
^ Bunny used to dribble quite a bit too, but I think it was mostly that as an infant, she didn't grip the bottle properly. No drips as she got older.

Re: best baby bottles
I use Avent bottles for my little one and have done from the start with the mothercare digital steam steriliser pod. Both are great I've never had an problems and she has never had gas/colic/reflux etc..and I would definitely use them for baby no.2! Also I couldn't dream of not sterilising I'm still doing it and she is 18months now!
Re: best baby bottles
the playtex ventaire's were very good! he drank from them with ease and one big burp within 10-15 minutes and he was done. whew!
the avent one was good too but i think i prefer the playtex one with the bottom vent thingie. avent i still had to burp him a few times- it was much quicker overall though.
sahar, did she dribble with the Born Free's when you bottle fed her, and not when she was holding on herself?
Re: best baby bottles
The very best baby bottle is called a breast, you even have two so that you can feed twins. Is'nt nature wonderful?
Re: best baby bottles
she still doesn’t hold it herself. ![]()
But it’s ok, she’s ready to transition off the bottle now. ![]()

In general of course this is true, but there are individual circumstances where that is not always the case.

Ya but they can malfunction without any prior warning too... Unlike bottles...u cant even try out a few until ure baby finds one it likes.... So really they arent all that
Re: best baby bottles
despite having tried every bottle available from here to Karachi.....my child wouldn't take one until she was 2 years old......
at that time we used the Playtex ones......just for the convenience of being able to throw away the liners.
and I never sterilized a thing.......not one.....the dishwasher did all the work.

I still give a rinse with boiling water fairly regularly, but the thing with sterilizing for too long is it affecting how they build immunity.

agreed.....those kids in my family that were kept "ultra protected" have developed both serious and long-term health issues in life....while those that were brought up with a less particular attitude and even less focus on staying "germ free" have developed well-balanced immune systsems.
Re: best baby bottles
I have trid every bottle in this world I think in the past two years (except the gucci one $299 at neiman Marcus) till this day we love playtex ventaires (wide) so much easier to wash because of the ample space for the brush to do it's job and every few months when I see it's starting to look run down I chuck it out and get start a new one, I have two little ones close in age so I use the 6 oz for the baby and 9 oz for my older one....and for water and juice I use 'nuk' brand bottles, my girls loves the shapes and colors it comes in

seriously?
did you ever consider breast isn’t best for everyone and some women have real problems breastfeeding?
Re: best baby bottles
i never considered that. d’oh! i sterilized by boiling for 5 minutes before the first use, and now i just use hot soapy water to wash, and then rinse the bottles in clear water afterwards. i don’t think the Ventaires can be used with a microwave sterilizer anyhow… boo. i don’t think i can even use it with a bottle warmer because of the vent at the bottom. double boo. seems like i have to return all the fun accessories for my bottles. ![]()
Re: best baby bottles
aww, its sippy cup time! ![]()
Re: best baby bottles
hehe
i think what you’re doing is plenty,
we usually just warm by putting the bottle in a bowl of hot water.
Re: best baby bottles
yeah she already drinks juice and water from a straw (way more successful than a sippy cup for her). I’ve been finding excuses to delay the bottle transition. ![]()
Re: best baby bottles
Nono u can use it… Put his water in Ny container or bottle for the night… Plug it n… When the time comes, simply pour e water into the needed bottle and off u goI hope u got the powder dispenser for his milk… Simply measure before sleeping…when he gets up, ure wster and milk is already measured…just gotta put them together and mix…My bottle warmer was THE most used baby item. Lved it!
Re: best baby bottles
I think I am the only one who didn't have the need to warm the water before mixing formula. I get gallon bottles of spring water which sits outside. So the water is room temp. All I do is pour water in the bottle, mix formula. I actually ended up returning the bottle warmer. It wasn't of any use at all. Also, to wash the bottles I simply use the same dish washing detergent we use. I don't have a dishwasher so I have to wash it each time. I never sterilize the bottle by putting it in hot water. I felt that I had to rinse it anyway after I sterilized them.
And as far as bottles are, I used the only two sets I had (avent and dr. brown), one of which was actually a gift. My son does perfectly fine with drinking from those two sets. That's the only two types of bottles he knows. I personally think we take more stress on what bottles we should use then the kids themselves. When they are this small, they don't have a preference. They get used to whatever is given to them.
burping, spitting out milk, gases (unless your baby is colic or has MAJOR gases issue) are all part of their growing up process. Their digestive system isn't fully developed. When they drink milk, they take air with it which causes them to spit out the milk or burp. The whole deal will get better with time. They get hang of things, they'll figure out themselves at what pace they have to drink. Eventually its going to get better. My son used to vomit the whole milk out at 2 months. He does very very good now. Very rare does he spit out now. Don't stress. Just think of it all as a process every kid goes through. He'll burp, huge burp .. then they'll be time you won't have to do anything, he'll burp on his own. Your son SCG is too small right now so yeah you probably have more to do to make him burp. No matter what bottle you give him, he'll burp.
