beard or no beard?

Re: beard or no beard?

I think you mentioned earlier that he did convert. Hmmm, but I would like to ask one more thing: does he (and you for that matter) pray your 5 (or 3, if you're shia) namazes regularly?

Re: beard or no beard?

^ 3 ? eh?

Re: beard or no beard?

I don't see how its any of your business :)

Re: beard or no beard?

The point I was trying to get at with the question is that if he doesn't follow the practices of islam (which I'm not sure he does) such as praying, fasting, eating halal foods (because the chinese and filipinos eat almost anything, lol) then the conversion was done only for the sake of marriage. I'm not judging here (whether that was right or not) but just trying to point out something.

Re: beard or no beard?

Yep, shias pray 3 times.

Re: beard or no beard?

Again, thank you for your input (not really). . . but its really none of your business. You want to believe what you want to believe, by all means go for it. I feel no reason to justify anything, my religious practices, beliefs, how i choose to life my life to you or anyone else on this site. Get over your God complexes and realize you are no one to even hint at the thought that he may not be a "real" muslim as you guys so love to label. Only God can do that, I suggest you leave that to Him.

Re: beard or no beard?

Why are you getting so defensive? I was just pointing out something; no where did I say that your husband was not a "real" muslim. All I said was that if he has continued his way of life as a non-muslim then certain questions maybe raised. May Allah guide him, me, and all of us on the right path, Ameen.

Re: beard or no beard?

And you wonder why she's getting so defensive? You pretty much insult her husband and his people and you actually have the nerve to ask why she's getting so defensive? First of all, anything that her husband does or doesn't do that fits into your definition of a "real" muslim is really none of your business. You say you're not trying to judge but every single thing you've said here screams just that.

You're lucky she hasn't verbally torn you a new one and is trying to keep her cool with idiots like you and quas; you're so hell-bent on finding out if some girl's husband is Muslim, if he converted, if he eats halal or anything, do you not have anything better to do? I wonder why you were banned in the first place.

Re: beard or no beard?

lol the title of the thread should be changed to 101 things you can do with your beard.

Re: beard or no beard?

Seeing as how you are so keen on checking up on muslims to make sure they are following the "right way" as a muslim, did you ever check to see if everybody in your immediate khandan is properly circumcised ? ? :)

Re: beard or no beard?

Sara, I've not said that her husband is not a real muslim; the plain reality is I DON'T KNOW. But what I am saying is that if non-muslim practices are still being undertaken then questions will be raised. I am no one to decide who is muslim and who's not; all I'm trying to do is to point out an aspect that is quite common from convertees. Also, am I wrong when I say chinese/filipino's eat almost anything? Is that a lie? No, its a fact so why get offended. Like in the other thread Sheeda telli said Pashtuns eat Niswaar, and my response to that was that YES we do eat them; its cold hard FACT. There is/was no reason for me to get offended.

Re: beard or no beard?

Baji, I'm not sure what you mean by that. It's gone totally over my head. :)

Re: beard or no beard?

Anil Khan, you’re certainly one of a kind. You start a thread worrying over what others think of beard, so you can decide whether to keep one or not. Some views suggest it’s more than merely a Sunnah, but we won’t argue over it and leave at that.

You then have the audacity to pick on someone’s husband and start making assumptions whether he converted for her or for real, and whether he eats all food or only that which is permissible.

You, my brother need to take a good look at yourself. Start with yourself and try to be a perfect Muslim from all aspects before worrying about how much of a Muslim someone’s husband happens to be and what he eats and abstains from.

This is truly very shameful. :nook:

Re: beard or no beard?

Wow, I can't believe no one is understanding what I'm trying to get across here. Khair, mitti daalo.

Back to the topic; who else likes beards?? :) :)

Oh I forgot to add: If I've offended you, Solar Oceans, then I apologize.

Re: beard or no beard?

nothing wrong with a nice clean one

Re: beard or no beard?

Excuse me? You even dont know who we(me and Anil) are and are quick to brand us idiots? I don't know you and I never pin-pointed you.. My questions to SolarOceans were pretty simple, straighforward and legitimate, if you will. There wasn't a hint of insult towards SolarOcean's husband if you read my posts and Anil's. She even didn't feel a bit intimidated at any of my Qs and you started beating us with a stick.. pooh!
Mannerism apart, I have to tell ya from your posts that I have read and grasped that you are sometimes too quick to jump to conclusions and switch sides.. hope you don't do it in your real life.. take it easy bibijee.. life's a long battle.. move at its pace not yours!

Re: beard or no beard?

U said it all yaar. if the memsaabs' hearts here are so fragile.. then Allah hi muaaf karey janaab!

Re: beard or no beard?

question, did the kuffar not hve beards during the time of the prophet?

Now here is a mental exercise.

So if the purpose is to distinguish oneself from non-muslims.
and the verdict is that one has to grow the beard AND cut the mustaches..

then, it does not matter if you are clean shaven...or...if we have beard and mustache both, Its the same because it does not distinguish..

Now...most of the ppl I see at the masjid who have beard, have mustaches too.

so basically they are NOT following the sunnah..right

Re: beard or no beard?

sikhs have the longest beards...i mean the exact "sunnah" beard.

these days you see mullahs on tv..with orange/yellow sikh type turbans....and its hard to telll if they are muslim or sikh.

Re: beard or no beard?

Exactly right; thanks for the support Quasim bhai.
