Re: Bangladesh Captain trying to wear bigger boots :)
*To keep the record straight, it was disgusting to see poor Irish players being forced to play in clouds, rain and virtually no light to give Pakistan a chance to bowl them out and move to the next round. I am glad that it did not happen and Ireland won. *
You are right about this one...This thought crossed my mind too at the time.
About BD, well I will only say this....ok they won against India/SA.....will also agree they looked the better side on those two days.....but lets not forget in a hurry that they were also totally crushed by NZ, SL and Australia.
I am not questioning BD's place in the Super 8. But like I have said before, the current ODI fomat has a habit of making ullus of the most knowledgable cricket experts....so don't be surprised if this world-beating BD side is now trounced by Ireland. I will say this to BD's supporters - just don't start putting away Bashar's effigy yet....you never know when you might need it.
Re: Bangladesh Captain trying to wear bigger boots :)
Even though I can understand that BD is inexperienced and for them to be making such statements requires some degree of audacity. However, the point being made about Pakistan and India not deserving to be in the Super 8 is perfectly solid. We have already agreed in many other threads that our 2 teams were really unprepared and missing the winning instinct needed to progress further in the tournament. So why the anger at some one else pointing the same facts to us? Turns out none of us really can admit that our own teams were really lousy in their games and that is why they got kicked out.
Re: Bangladesh Captain trying to wear bigger boots
I don’t know whats wrong with his statement, if Pakistan and India were good enough for “this” world cup wouldn’t they be in super 8? Why do we have to live in past when watching present? Bengladesh has improved a lot while Pakistan and India deteroriated a lot, resulting in BD plyaying in super 8 while Pakistan and India being out, simple as that. Bravo BD keep it up :k:
Re: Bangladesh Captain trying to wear bigger boots :)
Bangolis may have improved a bit, NOT lot. That doesn't mean Pakistan & Indian teams deteriorated. As Ravi Shastri said in an interview
"A good team doesn't become a bad team in two weeks and a good team doesn't become an excellent team in two weeks"
We all know Pak & Indian teams are inconsistant, just one bad day put them out of the WC, this is not the End of the World. Just wait and watch...
well, if you can't be good on 'crucial' day then you are not good 'enough', if Bengalis are in Super 8 and have defeated SA it not an easy thing, its not 'they had good one day', Pakistan lost to WI (one bad day) then Pakistan lost to Ireland (another bad day???). India lost to Sri Lanka (one bad day) they also lost to Bengladesh (another bad day????). Come on, I know its not easy to digest but BD have proved to be better than Pakistan and India in this world cup, the sooner you realize this the sooner you will know the worth of our super-stars.
Re: Bangladesh Captain trying to wear bigger boots :)
Its kinda funny how I as an Indian-after Indias exit from the WC took solace in the fact tht Pakistan dint make it to the next round....n im pretty sure there were a lot of Pakistanis who were doing the same for India....
But I think here...Bashar is completely within his right to make his comments...we need to grow up and learn to appreciate this Bangla team which actually walks the talk....unlike India and pakistan...

Yes he was very right! But at the same time, he should not forget that India and Pakistan taught them cricket and got them the international status where they stand now!
Re: Bangladesh Captain trying to wear bigger boots
Hahaha.. after todays tigers-turned-bakri performance, heap it on the poor chap.
On a serious note, I think in ODI (and 20/20) format any team can win on a given day (with some good performances and proper alignment of stars), however, its the consistency in the game that sets boys apart from men. Bangladesh still has ways to go. On a related note, Pak and India played like toddlers and thus are now spending quality time with their families.
