Re: Bad Weddings
This happened in 2000. An uncle and auntie (widow), both with grown-up kids, fell in love and wanted to get married. Their family (uncles first wife) and kids didn’t accept. But they didn’t care and planned the whole thing…like sent out invitations, organized shadi function, decoration, ordered food, etc. Uncle paid for everything. Come the day, and right before nikkha ceremony auntie’s daughter went on stage and begged her mother not to do it. She did it infornt of 300 guests. I wasn’t there, but I’ve been told (by herself
) that she reminded her mother of their dead father. She said she manipulated her mother. People were shocked. I guess, poor auntie felt embarrassed. She left the stage crying. And called of the whole thing. Everybody felt sorry for auntie and uncle.
Now, uncle is married with another auntie (he divorced his first wife). And this auntie is living with her kids. Poor thing, never attends shadi functions.
Re: Bad Weddings
A real story and I attended the wedding: (will keep it short)
A young girl in europe fells in love with a guy, I think over the internet (though they made up a story of how the ristha was arranged by her aunty in the states). The mom all happy and tells everyone 'he' is a doctor and bit older than the girl. We get the invitation with Dr. before his name, the wedding takes place in a fine hotel, the groom arrives a day before the mehdi with his mom only!!
Next day is Nikkah and rukshati, they stay in the hotel where the venue of the shadi was and 3 days later all 3 leave the country... The end would everyone think but no .....
We found out a month later, the girl is with her aunty in the states and that the groom has died (another story that was made of the girls family) in reality he was already married with 4 kidss!!!! He told her on the flight the reality and said, he needs a maid and a nanny for his kids (!!) so he marrried her and is taking her to his place. She left him after the truth came out. Infact the person is a taxi driver or some worker and no doctor as he prentended.
After 2 months the girl came back to her parents and a divorce was performed.
Well this is the worst wedding story that I have myself seen. We feel sorry for the girl and feel that the parents didnt do enough background information about the guy they didnt knew at all.
This tells us to be careful about other ppls intentions, not eveyone is an angel and how our society runs after doctor risthas and believes their words without being suspicous (where is the sixth sense I ask myself).
Re: Bad Weddings
^ something similar happened to someone I know :(
I agree parents should have checked his backgroud, but they should have questioned this auntie as well. Also, this girl hasted into marrige by telling a lie. And you know what they say "jis rishte ki bunyad hi jhooth se ki gey ho, woh rishta hi...aho!"
Re: Bad Weddings
that girl sounds like a completely immature, selfish, self-centered, thoughtless, uncaring biatch. to be so concerned with your own happiness that you couldn’t even see how much the marriage would make your mom happy, and then to go out of your way to sabotage it this way!!! wow. i would have disowned her entirely.
every woman has a right to happiness - remarrying is not disrespectful to him or his memory because he’s dead. you mourn somebody and love them even, for the rest of your days, but that doesn’t mean you can’t love again. remarrying would have given her another shot at happiness and peace and security in her life. poor woman!
Re: Bad Weddings
Is there a possibility maybe the uncle was kind of uhm.. sketchy? thats why the kids dint like em? how old were her kids? and how long ago had the father passed away? Man thats sad. :(

I don't think that the aunty in the states brought the ristha, it was a story made up, infact she meet him in some chat room.
I agree, there should have been a background check on the guy, at least check the place where he works or is suppose to work as a doctor.
I heard that the girls father was in the states before the wedding took place on some business matter, I still dont understand how they never found out about him.
I havent seen the girl for ages, she used to be our neighbor (lived in the same block) maybe someday I can get a clear story from her, however unfortunate it is.
