Re: HSY- Stay away! Horrible experience!

@ mehrunissa: did you start this thread to promote your business? :hehe: now when people “choose designs from magazines” to give you or others orders, who do you think these designs belong to? whose originals and creativity are you copying? c’mon give credit where its due, facebook is full of these ‘designers’ who simply copy and paste original works of legit designers and pass off as their own. if you can do an equally better job then come up with your own designs instead of copying from magazines or just admit it and don’t whine.

Re: HSY- Stay away! Horrible experience!

i really think stoppit is right...this is the fault of "the designers" not HSY...now if you had talked to HSY directly and they had still not helped u...then definitely we would all say you are right if u feel HSY didnt give u proper customer service... dealing with him directly would give u a better idea of what his customer service is like...as it stands u can only really tok about the customer service at "the designers" and based on ur experience...i would say u had a horrible experience with "the designers"

Okay, first off I think there's a lot of confusion in these posts about a lot of things. First off, I live in Karachi, and in Karachi there is no official showroom or store of HSY. He only stocks at the Designers, in fact he is one of the few designers that only stocks there, Unbeatable and Karma have branched out to also having their own outlets, but HSY has not, I suppose because of his sky-high prices which make it difficult for the average Pakistani to afford his clothes, and the rocketing prices of rent at most of these retail stores. SO, if someone wants to buy HSY in Karachi, the only avenue they have to go through is in fact The Designers. In fact, in all of his magazine and editorial shoots, the address and phone number of "The Designers" is provided for Karachi. So when it suits HSY, they use the name of The Designers, and when it doesn't, they disown them? Also, like I said before, if the issue had just been with the alterations, or the onus had been on TD only, I wouldn't have said anything about HSY. But the fact of the matter is, the jora that came back looked NOTHING like the one I had ordered. That shows the lack of quality control of what was coming out of their warehouse. Also, when this whole mess happened, I was begging and pleading for a number of customer service on which I could voice my concern, and after much haggling when it was provided to me, no one on that line was helpful and really did not care less about what I had to say, I was basically transferred from one line to another, until someone simply hung up on me. Emailing the main business center didn't work either, and when I voiced my concern on the HSY facebook community, I was blocked from it!!! So I believe that BOTH the Designers and HSY are equally at fault here. Plus, if I were a designer, I wouldn't stock my clothes anywhere that might tarnish my reputation or cause me to lose customers. I believe fame just goes to these designers heads. The last I heard HSY was busy with doing fashion shows in Bulgaria and Moscow or something. What these designers don't realize is that it's the general public of Pakistan, like us, that is actually their bread and butter. They're too busy competing with each other to see who can lick the white man's feet the most, whereas none of those foreigners will actually spend money to wear shalwaar kameez, whereas their lack of attention is making their client base in Pakistan die out. I for one will never trust TD or HSY again, and thank God I had this experience now before I trusted him with my bridal dress. I just hope sharing my experience will help some girl not to make the same mistake in the future, because I know how humiliating and frustrating it was for me.

Re: HSY- Stay away! Horrible experience!

^^ well said girl..... :)

Your experience with designers!

Please be honest, don't take this opportunity to just put down anyone cuz of your dislike for no reason. If you had an issue then share that not just your dislike for somebody cuz of no valid reason.

DON'T GO TO KARMA!!! unless you plan to give them a wrong due date 6months prior to yr wedding. I was never thrilled with their work cuz i never found them to be very creative or unique. However i have been their regular costumer since they started. And i went to them for every wedding in my family cuz i would always end up finding one thing or the other for myself that would be creative n unique for me. But ofcourse i always had to really look up their while shop but since we are on good terms with them we wanted to oder from them. However just recently on my bro's wedding it all went disastorous...not only the oders were 1 month late but also not the way we had odered. And we were not the only ones!!! every day we wud go there wud be so many other customers with their complains n some girls almost crying cuz their dress was not there yet at the studio n they were getting late for their make-up time. Just Imagine!!! I am sorry but this way karma is gonna go down within this year if they dont get their act together...

I understand maheen was pregnant and all but i m sure its not like all 9months she didnt know abt her condition?! rite so she shud have found a proper replacement for her. I was truly disappointed with them.

Loving this thread :D

Re: Bad experiences with designers- share your story here!

I don't know how I found this thread, but its being bumped if its not already a sticky.

I second all that's been said. I have walked into designer's boutiques' and the response I get is SO UNPROFESSIONAL. I actually walked in wearing regular ghar-walay shalwaar kameez, cuz hell no I am not walking around KARACHI in American clothes only to get GRABBED by kameenay on the street, nor am I wanting anyone to know I have any money, lest I get robbed (one good thing I learned from my memon ancestry - look poor as hell and no one will figure out you've got any money, and no one will target you).

Maria B: Designer's salesperson didn't even speak to me. I tried talking to her about clothes and their prices and she acted like I was wasting her time. So...I exited the premises and told her that she 1. Lost a sale, cuz I'm not as poor as I look and 2. Yeah I was gonna pay in dollars and 3. The outfits aren't as nice as they look in magazines and 4. Maria B needs to hire a better sales lady.

She looked surprised and didn't have time to say anything because I turned around and walked out.

  1. Bunto Kazmi: I stepped into her store, and would I love to tell you about her attitude. But I can't. Because at the moment I walked in there was a lady on the second floor (Bunto or someone else, I don't know), screaming angrily and in an obnoxious tone. I was quickly ushered out by the security guard who looked at me sadly and shook his head. I couldn't figure out if he was trying to protect me from whatever monster was inside the boutique or he was trying to protect the monster from a girl in a plain kameez with plastic BATA chappals. ? :( I didn't argue there, as I have a policy not to argue with men who hold guns.

  2. Tazeen Hasan: Shady business altogether. The designs she has posted on her website seem pretty fabulous, so I had a relative go see them at their advertised location. They didn't want to talk straight. Were insistent on getting money first, and when they finally showed a sample of the work, my aunts were like...this doesn't even look like what was on the website.

  3. Some store in the Forum : They're so friggin insignificant that even I don't remember their name. Ok, so I walk in and Mr. Salesman is more busy on his cell phone than anything else. What a chichora. He didn't even look at us, and when I asked him the price about one piece, he couldn't remember the price. The items didn't even have tags on them. I looked at him, told him he was a douche and unprofessional and is he PLANNING on making a sale ever??? And then I left. Again, I had a dumbfounded look.

These folks are all:

Unprofessional

Have ZERO business training

Are REALLY OVERPRICED for what they're giving you, because you can get rip-offs that come pretty close in quality to what their magazine pics show.

Don't really seem to be interested in making a profit.

And they have plenty of people running crazy enough after their designs that they don't care to change their behaviors.

There are plenty of businesses where you can get outfits picked up from where their customer service is actually pretty decent. Will you get something amazingly magnificent? No, but then it depends what you want the outfit for. I don't particularly care to spend 300 dollars on an outfit I'm going to wear one night at a gathering where I don't even want to look at anyone's face. At THAT event, I'll wear something that looks good on me, but didn't cost me a lot. If I want to really dress to impress, fine I have a handful of outfits hanging in my closet for that, and I honestly spent very little on them.

It's a PITY that being a country where textiles and clothing is such a hot commodity, that no designer is really exploding the middle-upper middle class market in designing clothes that are QUALITY (quality kapra, quality kaam, quality designing, proper fit), and where they are CATERING to the populace.

If I were a designer, I would NOT tolerate any misbehavior towards customers and I'd do my utter best to get them into something that looks good.

There are lots of smaller designers in Karachi, but you have to look around and go store-to-store. There are some that are very willing to look for something that will look good on you. They might not be the BEST quality ever, but even then, if you want to find a karigar who does good quality work, you probably can find one. I personally don't live in Pakistan, nor do I have enough vacation time or patience to go to such a violent country to find such people.

I did have a good experience in Karachi with Clifton's branch of Exclusive. Key is that you don't go for their ready made's because their quality isn't GREAT. But if you go to their second floor, they have raw kapra, and their tailor is right there, and you can pick out the kapra you want, or even bring your own, tell them what you want done and they do it for you. He gave me the best fitting EVER. Key is to be nice to them. If you're going to walk in like an arrogant prick, then they're not gonna want to work with you. But be nice and cordial and talk to them, make friends, and they'll turn over backwards for you. Their customer service at Exclusive was pretty good. Their clothes aren't amazingly magnificent in quality, but I can post what I have from there. I was pretty happy with it. And these are clothes that I'm wearing to parties where I am with people that I don't even want to spend time with, so for me, I don't particularly WANT to spend a lot on clothes.

There is another small boutique on Tariq Road...can't remember the name, but I've posted about it here before. The lady was pretty kind and went through a bunch of her designs. Her husband came in and shoo-ed us away which was so annoying, because we weren't buying right away. But she definitely was a good sales lady and she was the designer herself.

Honestly, I don't think most of these people are real designers anyway. Copying Indian, or American designs and then having Karigars really brainwork the kaam for you doesn't quality as designing. I feel bad for the Karigars, because they're the ones who should be getting your 1-8 lakhs per outfit, not these ripoff morons who think they own Pakistan.

hahahahhaha :omg::omg: :omg:

sorry :frowning:

Re: Bad experiences with designers- share your story here!

my friend had her barat dress from karma and the zip of her shirt came out the first time she wore it at the parlour ..i pinned it up with safety pins and later the MUA set the dupatta in way that it was covered ..it was so un easy for her ..she kept freaking out about it and it spoiled her day badly ..she was uneasy on stage the during the event... it was horrible

^wow really?
I actually had a good experience with Karma in karachi. I got my wedding outfit ordered from them along with a saree, my sister's clothes and my mother's clothes. They all came in exactly like how I wanted them and fit me perfectly the first time I tried them on. I got my orders in exactly on time and my wedding outfit was done within 2 months actually. The sales people working at Karma in karachi were quite nice as well. So I am just shocked that other people had a bad experience with Karma :(. Sorry to hear that. But I do agree with the fact that a lot of these designers and their sales workers need to step it up many notches in terms of customer service.

Re: Bad experiences with designers- share your story here!

i have seen a karma dress literally tearing apart from one side on the day of barat just before the photo shoot . it was horrible . poor bride was in the state of shock. it was the back side of the shirt so her sister adjusted the dupatta in a way that it revealed nothing

Re: Bad experiences with designers- share your story here!

can someone pls tell me the designer for this dress

Re: Bad experiences with designers- share your story here!

this is so true! Its funny how so many people are so quick to judge the designer without hearing their side of the story first. Of course good service is part of the whole deal (thats what you're paying for mainly when you're ordering designer wear) and if they don't give it thats their fault, but I've had experiences with ladies who come in groups just to try to push the prices down to levels that are unreasonable and then expect the same quality out of them as well as service within a shorter timespan than given. If you're too polite, they take it as some sign of weakness and keep going. Before starting my work, I had dealt with Nomi Ansari, HSY, Sana Safinaz, Umar Sayeed, Nickie Nina, Niche, Unbeatables and other designers as well, other than one of them (will not be mentioning who), I have had good experiences with them, mainly because I was polite with them as well (I saw their reactions to unreasonable clients as well).
Expect very good customer service, but don't haggle or belittle them, because they're the ones handling your suits, and if they're not motivated enough to make your dress due to any reason, its your money going down the drain not theirs (there are people who do that :S)

Re: Bad experiences with designers- share your story here!

Hello all,
I wanted to share my HORRIBLE experience with a Karachi designer Sabah Mullick at Zamzama…I can’t beign to tell what a monster she is. If you are ever shopping online from abroad then please avoid her because she acts like a sweet person until you send her the money. THEN she forgets about you and delivers whatever crap she wants to give. I ordered a saree and a formal dress(front open gown with dhaka pajama) from her for my BIL’s wedding. She took Months to email me the sketches of 2 dress options, nothing for saree as she told me to trust her because she is a professional designer! Both dress skteches were just OK and I decided on 1 of them as I didn’t have a lot of time left. She did not give me details of fabric material or embroidery eventhough I asked her and whatever embroidery patterns she did show to me she did not use and the end result was a nightmere. The dress looked way different from the sketch she showed and it is just ugly. The saree also didn’t look as I had expected so had to cancel, she charged me 50% of total price! For the formal dress I couldn’t do much as she had invited me for dress trial about a week before the wedding and only showed the undershirt and dhaka pajama but not the gown which had most of the work. I got the dress 2 days before the wedding and the fitting was really bad and it looked awful: she used 3-4 different tones of gold embroidery on different parts of the gown and it didn’t even go together…Also the undershirt was showing at the bottom because it was longer than the gown. She chose organza fabric for the gown which gave a very unflattering FAT look on me, i felt like I was wearing a tent!:frowning: She had such an ugly attitude and kept praising herself ‘I’m professional’ blah blah but she felt OK to blackmail me and told me she will share my emails and personal info with another customer..How professional is that?? I literally felt scared to talk in front of her and unfortunately had to wear this hideous dress on my BIL’s wedding. Check out the pics of the dress…I’m posting them to make you guys aware and especially those of you who order clothes online from designers. Sabah Mullick is not a person to be trusted. She will take your money and start showing you the attitude and she will not deliver value and will not deliver clothes on time.

Here’s a pic of undershirt showing below the open front gown…notice the 2 different tones of gold in the embroidery

Back embroidery pattern…ugly!!

different tones of gold used on body embroidery and the paindu looking flowers

some more pics
