Baby girl names :)...

Re: Baby girl names :)...

Another FB friend had a baby girl and named her 'Rumaisa'...
I am waiting for her to reply to the congratulations message I sent her and hoping she can tell me the meaning as well...:D

Re: Baby girl names :)…

**hmmm…this is what i found…if it’s a Hindu name, why would a Muslim name his/her child Rumaisa? i lived in India most of life but i never heard this name…it’s quite strange!

**Rumaisa

Re: Baby girl names :)…

Interesting..
I found this info

Re: Baby girl names :)…

sometimes, i think the information given on sites are biased, incorrect, incomplete or even misleading. i’m an avid reader of urdu litrerature and alHamdolillah i have read many many many Islamic books in Urdu but i never ever came across this name neither i’ve ever heard anyone named Rumaisa in India. i lived there 2/3 of my life. i’m NOT saying that i KNOW it all, far from it!..but, i do think that sometimes the info is NOT correct.

Re: Baby girl names :)...

ive heard loads of girls names rumaisa in arabia.. all desis... and the meaning was quite pretty too... cant remember it though for the life of me. and its very much a muslim name.

online sites sometimes mess up the hertiage, culture and religious backgrond of names. i wouldnt trust a random site when naming my chlid...

Re: Baby girl names :)...

I recently heard the name Anumta/Anamta anyone know the meaning?

Re: Baby girl names :)...

i agree with you that you can't trust a random site to get the info about the name of your child that you are planning to give. however, having said that, i in my initial post had asked for the HIJJE [spelling] of the word and nobody seems to know. since i can NOT hear anyone of you say the name so i suspect it could very well be **"RAMEESA"*. Rumaisa could just be incorrect way to spell the word in roman urdu. my reasoning is that i've the *BEST urdu luGHat**** [dictionay] *"firoza-ul-luGhaat", compiled by the *Molvii Abdul Haq, the baba-a-urdu [father of urdu]...this word spelled in roman as RUMAISA is NOT there while Rameesa is. **there is a very minute difference. Rumaisa has a PESH on RE while Ramesa has a ZABAR on RE...wallaho 'aalam bissawaab!**

Re: Baby girl names :)…

interesting link on wikipedia about someone called Rumaysa

[Umm Sulaym bint Milhan - Wikipedia

a](Umm Sulaym bint Milhan - Wikipedia)pparently one of the prophets companions was called Rumaysa

Re: Baby girl names :)…

no argument about that but here we are trying to establish the word’s CORRECT pronunciation.

Re: Baby girl names :)...

In arabic i think its spelt

رمیصاء

Re: Baby girl names :)...

i dunno, may be...i checked it in the dictionary of urdu and, as expected, this word isn't there.

Re: Baby girl names :)...

i say its spelt that way as my Syrian friends little sister is called Rumaysa - they pronounce it Rum- may- sahhh.

Re: Baby girl names :)...

Yes this is how I have heard it.I agree that these websites seem to mess up the meanings and all.
I used to have a teacher named 'Rameesa' in college and this name 'Rumaysa' is pronounced differently. The person who has named his daughter this is a very religious person, and I am sure he must have done his share of research on the mane...:)

Maybe it is not an Urdu word.so that is why it is not found in the Urdu dictionary.

Re: Baby girl names :)...

alrite...thanx...so, the MYSTERY is solved! :)

May be that's the case...BUT, in urdu, all arabic words [NOT verbs] are mentioned in dictionaries of urdu because urdu has 40% arabic words, 60% persian and 10% the rest. this word could be just one of those that didn't make it to urdu language. thanx for the interest you guys showed :)

Re: Baby girl names :)...

Therumaisa's ivemet are pronounced Roo-may-saa

Re: Baby girl names :)...

^ speaking of baby girl names, have you thought of any? :D

Re: Baby girl names :)…

No :frowning:

She can njust name herself. We have asked the folks and everyone we know for suggestions…

Kid sis is hell bent on iliana which the husband will just not have cuz of the high number of maids he has met with that name (dont even ask..i dont just dont know)

Dad, who has suggested gorgeous names in the past, suddenly has gone blank and has narrowed it down to zara and sara  and then says i shpuld save those for when i have twin girls…O K THEN

We still just have 2 names…raabail…and aaira.

I wish mil would get some form of name amensia just so i can use the name summer… Its got such a beautiful meaning…but alas… Of all the names mil’s evil chachi could have been called, THAT HAD to be her name…irkh.

There are some traditional names that sound nice and have good meanings…but husband was very proud of himself when he found a relatively new name with a good meaning when he named our son… So the guy would like to do that wi our girl too… So u can expect the baby girl to be called baby for the first 2 weeks just like her bro was, whilst the dad works on a name

Re: Baby girl names :)...

Raabail is pretty!

Re: Baby girl names :)...

is that Raa-beyl or Raa-baa-ail?
Aaira is really pretty too. reminds me of Aria.

Re: Baby girl names :)…

its raa-bail (as in when u get bailed outta jail lol ) … its pretty… but lets see.. my mom is hell bent on that name.. why? cuz she just wants to be able to call her baila

aaira is nice isnt it.. its growing on me… husband loves it. just cuz it matches aariz  the meaning is quite simple… respectable and noble. blah. :stuck_out_tongue: i want acres of fruit trees and majestic fountains to be a part of the meaning of a name :cb: and if we can work in beauty too… phir kia kehna .. lol.

aria is nice too… wouldnt settle with my delhi urdu background… i can already imagine her being made fun of.. cuz a way of saying 'are u coming or going?* in delhi urdu is this: aria hai ke jaariya hai?

sighz.

i gotta get back to ure pm.
