**aaaaaaaawwwwww...inshaa Allah, soon you'll have a lil doll.
i do NOT wish to be critical but just want to let you know that as much this name sounds good but the fact remains that it doesn't have a good cannotation associated with it. it's NOT illegal or invalid Islamic name but i would refrain from naming a child ZulaiKha. i'm sorry if i offended u. :(**
I'm not offended at all. I was researching it today, and she was the wife of an egyptian king, who seduced Hazrat Yousaf (AS), correct me if i'm wrong. Kinda put a damper on it. I think the name is nice, but now i'm not in favour of the history behind it...Allah knows best and will give me what HE pleases
I love modern names, husband hates them....sigh think we will be having another fight soon over names....lol.....
One of my friends (who now has two sons) was facing the same problem. Her husband truly did not have the best taste in names. She preferred the more unique/modern variety. I think they reached a compromise. She did end up getting her way....but she managed to soften him up with patience as opposed to bugging him about the issue all the time. Things are already tense between the two of you....I wouldn't start this battle so soon. Mend the relationship, make it stronger, win him over....and maybe towards the end...maybe after you've had the baby...who knows, he may give in.

**you are right she was the infamous seducer.
There are "ish" names like Mahwish (not fond of this one), Beenish, Naazish......why can't Baarish be a name? Or has it been used as a name ever? I love rain....and I've been looking for a name that means name but still has a nice sound to it. Came across Amaya...which means "night rain" and is nice...but it sounds very similar to the name of one of my cousins.

i haven't heard this name either. baarish in Hindi is called **Barkha**** which is a Hindu name. i've heard ONLY one lady's name "*Bibi Baaraan-e-RaHmat". BaaraaN means Baarish :)*

Yeah, I have heard of Barkha. I didn't know that Baarish was derived from that word. I don't really the sound of Baaraan. I do however like the sound of Baarish (as strange as that may sound)...but I have not heard it used as an actual...not even in dramas, where characters often do have uncommon names.

true...baarish sounds more lyrical...but FYI, these words are derivatives of the same base faarsii word **baareedan**** [paanii kaa barasnaa]...baareedan, baarish, baaraaN etc ... other similar sounding words like baareedan will have the same methodology to make other derivative words...like zaarish [cry] from the word zaareedan [to cry] and derivatives like zaar [zaar zaar ronaa] zaarish [aaNsoo] zaaraaN etc...**
I recently heard the name 'Rumaysa'...I liked it and looked for its meaning but just came up with who she was.
Anyone knows what it means..?
how do you spell in urdu? never heard of this word anywhere in urdu literature.
i think its rumeesa, not rumaya. kkf, can you look up rumeesa please?
ohhh....i think the name is **Rameesah رمیسہ**** [re, meem, ye, seen, chhoTii he] which means 'white horse' :) do you think it's the word?**
