yeh naam ek saHaabiyah kaa hai jo islam kii pahlii shaheed Khaatoon thiiN. Sumaiyah means PURE…i hope it suffices. u may spell this name as SUMAYYAH as well but i would prefer the former spelling SUMAIYAH] as it’s closer to the roman urdu transliteration scheme and conveys better pronunciation.
in order to remove your confusion, i looked up in one of the most reputed urdu dictionaries called** ‘firaoz-ul-loGhaat’ **and the meaning given there is PURE only…no mention of PRIDE. i would safely say it means PURE without any doubt.
Inaayah is the correct word. Urdu Speaking people in India/Pakistan pronounce this arabic word as Inayat [favour, gift]. Inayat is a male name while Inayah is a female name
I don’t have a baby yet, nor am i any closer to having one… but the name Zulekha has taken over my mind. I even without thinking about it did dua a couple of nights ago… that Allah pls give me Zulekha.. I made my hubby promise me he’ll go with that name if we ever had a daughter
**aaaaaaaawwwwww…inshaa Allah, soon you’ll have a lil doll.
i do NOT wish to be critical but just want to let you know that as much this name sounds good but the fact remains that it doesn’t have a good cannotation associated with it. it’s NOT illegal or invalid Islamic name but i would refrain from naming a child ZulaiKha. i’m sorry if i offended u. :(**
