The first test draw in Cardiff where Aussies failed to dislodge the last-wicket pair of Panesar and Anderson w’d give them all nightmares for sometime. That in effect cost them the Ashes

England should thank Monty and Anderson for the ashes victory. Had cardiff test was lost, they would never have won this series.
Having said that, they completely outplayed Australia in three out of five tests so no one can say that their win was undeserved.
So glad to see aussies' continuing decline. They are still a pretty damn good team but their days of complete domination are gone!
Australia have lost their aura surely but let's not forget what happened with England the last time (2006) they visited Australia - a 5-0 whitewash. Chances of this Australian side repeating it again next year are remote given that their batting now seems vulnerable and their bowling is ok rather than outstanding - and no world-class spinner to add to their miseries - but I would still expect Australia to beat England in the next Ashes at home.

Over 5 tests Australia had 6 of the top 7 run-scorers and the top three wicket-takers but it is England who won the Ashes 2-1. Look esp. at England’s bowling averages. They are nothing special
