Ashes 2009

Re: Ashes 2009

Eng 49/3 lead by 221 runs.

Re: Ashes 2009

*Australia completely lost the plot today ...
*

Australia collapsed like Pakistan (cf. SLA tour) today losing 8 wickets in 2 hours between lunch and tea

One bad session and they are now in grave danger of losing the Ashes 2-1

Re: Ashes 2009

can someone PM me link if u find one....thanks

England 373/9d have set Australia an unlikely 546 runs to win the final test and retain the Ashes. A draw would be good enough for Australia but with so much time (2 full days + 22 overs on day3) left in the game, England would back themselves to win here.

Re: Ashes 2009

England :hula:

Stumps Day 4:

England 332 & 373/9d
Australia 160 & 80/0 (20.0 ov)

Australia trail by 465 runs

Watson and Katich did well to survive until stumps

Winning is out of the equation

It is all about survival as far as Australia is concerned

Can they bat for 2 more days? Two of the three Ponting, Clarke and Hussey will need to score big hundreds IMO

Re: Ashes 2009

^ if they bat two days they will win the match.

England is favourite to win.

**
absolutely ...
Never underestimate Aussie cricket team**

Re: Ashes 2009

Australia has a statistical chance of winning the game, like the statistical chance of a meteor hitting the stadium before the game ends. If they can pull it off and break the world record chase by about 25-30 percent, well then no one can begrudge them for that.

The game should be mostly done on day 4, even if they do need to come out on day 5. \

England :k:

AUssies :2guns: (hmm… smilies with guns, Ive never seen that on the net before, and that too on a family friendly forum :nahi:

Re: Ashes 2009

*Aussies are fighting hard ...
207-2
*

Re: Ashes 2009

**2 run outs in 6 balls....

**

Australians are 220/4, captain and vice captain back to back run out give edge to England and they can finish it today.

Re: Ashes 2009

The new ball is creating a lot of chances. But Aussies fighting... A good contest to watch.

But for those two runouts of Ponting (who was well set) and Clarke, Australia would still be in the game

Still a good fight-back by Hussey

327/7 and England surely have the Ashes now

The end is nigh!! 343/9

Re: Ashes 2009

...if only i was there, well done England on winning the ashes.

Re: Ashes 2009

England regains the Ashes. Congrats to English fans.

Good come-back by England after few people gave them hope following their disastrous performance in the 4th test in Leeds where they lost by an innings

Ponting's second successive defeat in England.

His overall captaincy record is still pretty good - 39 wins 11 losses (cf. Steve Waugh 41-9) - but after 6 years at the helm and a second successive away Ashes loss he might decide enough is enough and relinquish captaincy of Australia. Let's wait and see
