we use to live near that area 25 years ago, ppl are not that poor.
wahan pe governement ke quatars tee, they also used to be red color, actualy not a rich area, not not poor also. abb ka mujay nahi patta. Lakin islamabad's properity bohut expensive ho gi hai and those quatars are given to that ppl as owners.

hum kahan islamabad me plot ke malak.

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

Moslty people from grades I to 16 live in sector G-6 and most of them are considered to be poor - compared to the people who live in the F sectors.

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

Sector G-6 has got lal quarters and lal masjid i.e. majority of the houses are government servant quarters.

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

I do not thinks so, they have been given to them on ownership basis. But majority of the Government servants got plots in new areas of Islamabad over the years.

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

Yeah I know of new Plots for Government servants, but are those who have been living for decades in those quarters not their owners now? I thought they have been given to them on ownership basis.

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

but are they at a level that if they dont do groceries for one day that they will have nothing to eat?

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

^ NO NO ... there was this jumma bazar near by, there is the abpara market, there is plenty to eat.

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

yeah but like if teh market is closed for one or 2 days would people run out of food?

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

if you ask me seriously, from my childhood experience, we allways had plenty even though my father wasnt getting that much pay as he did later. Food was allways plenty.

There are small shops on every corner of the blocks, there are shops at ppl's homes, there are stocks that ppl have at home, like sugar, rice, atta wagaira, we went to bazar once a week to get fresh veggies, fruits supplies and my mom would by small things from the shops nearby.

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

no, not if they have supplies at home which most of them do.

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

i dunno what the hue and cry is about ppl w/o food to eat in the area who are hungry due to curfew

sounded a bit over teh top

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

uh! getting Webwasher at work, so cannot see the link, but its a bit over the top, which idiot goes shopping everday, no one dies if they cannot go to the shops for 2 days. maybe they cannot get their ready made chat patta food from the markets and are dying of eating at home.

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

Its one of the oldest area's of Islamabad. I guess the Islambadian middle class lives and has always lived in the area.

Maybe not everyone was able to keep stock of edibles to come through the curfew, and all daal chawal and aaata is fnished for some. So they must be hungry. Or close to starving even.

They were saying the same thing on Geo TV this morning.

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

Yaar Gizzy, neighbors kis leyay hai, do din ki baat hai, curfew is over.

Re: area around lal masjid in islamabad

Maybe neighours ko bhi apni apni parhi hogi..

curfew is over?
I was watching live coverage just now and they were saying its like ghost town around here, as no one was on the streets?
