Re: ANP’s craftiness
Icon the Army has no permanent friends it just has its own interests (just like any political party), so whether the ANP wants it or not the relationship is temporary.
The context of the relationship has changed, the Army has realised that overcentralisation and outlawing cultural expression doesn’t work, it also needs allies against the TTP after previously splitting the ANP and PPP in K-P and giving a free hand to the disastrous MMA government. So it has changed its outlook in many ways. Similarly the ANP has gone from a national radical leftwing party with a strong Pashtun influence to a regional pashtun nationalist party that besides renaming, autonomy and kalabagh doesn’t really offer much else..and out of those three points two it appropriated from elsewhere (Pakhtunkhwa was first mentioned by the PPP, Kalabagh was first opposed by the Muslim League) and are now resolved with the 18th amendment.
