yeah yoga is really good.
it relaxes your body and mind. shud give it a try, its fun too.
and u end up being able to get into positions u never held possible...amazing.

I was joking. I don't give a F about what some random dude ("scholars") say is haram or halal. I do what I want !

Exercise is not haraam unless some basic Islamic beliefs are being ignored/violated. The Prophet (pbuh) and his companions swam and played other sports in order to remain physically fit.

I hear some specific breathing exercises are very benefical for overall health.

Most Yoga exercises do have Hindu religious overtones to it. The names, the motions etc. An expert could tell you better. Of course I would tell you to not give a F and do what you want since I am not religious.

hey if i do yoga i dont turn into a Hindu (with all respect to the other religions tho)...
like if i eat African food it dont mean i'm African...
yoga has very good breathing exercises...yes they talk about chakra's and karma and stuff like that but the essential breathing excercises and being one with your body and mind have nothing to do with religion but just with being aware of yourself...inside (mentally) out (phisically).
no harm in trying...just see for yourself...if ur not happy u can always leave it...

I agree. And while doing yoga, you don't have to chant any mantras or idol worship. The exercise part of it is scientific and beneficial.

just because yoga has "Aasans" that are named in hindi language, does not make them hindu worship rituals ..
I am not sure how Yoga can be considered hindu religious practice

There's one that a friend of mine swears by.. standing outside during early morning, taking in fresh air and holding it in for a few seconds before exhaling. She says it calms her down, relieves stresses and her famiy practices it every morning.

Calm down folks. I was simply mocking some of the mullahs out there who seriously discourage Yoga because of its Hindu roots.
