Anniversary of Babri mosque demolition today

AYODHYA:
With fresh focus on the Babri Masjid issue in the wake of the Liberhan Commission’s findings, the 17th anniversary of the demolition was observed today amid tight security in Ayodhya and other places in the country.
Under categoric directions from the Union Home Ministry, Uttar Pradesh and other state governments beefed up security and Ayodhya-Faizabad area was converted into a virtual fortress.
While the VHP observed the day as “Shourya Diwas (valour day)”, Samajwadi Party marked it as “Kala Diwas (black day)”.
All India Babri Masjid Action Committee has decided to organise special prayers for peace and harmony.
In Ayodhya, besides central forces, 500 personnel of PAC, 200 jawans of Rapid Action Force, three bomb detecting squads and anti-sabotage teams have been deployed, officials said.

And pray tell how did you arrive at this figure...if the Babri mosque is any indication, you've perhaps simply tallyed up the number of mosques in a region that you'd like to destroy.

friend…you can visit ayodhya, mathura and varanasi…you will find many christian churches, sikh gurudwaras in these cities and they are situated at normal locations…but only muslims had to construct mosques in these cities at the entire centres of hindu worshiping places…reasons well known to you…

a) You're treating an accusation like a given. I find it odd, unless there's some pragmatic structural reason to re-use foundations, why Muslims would bother to built a mosque on top of a temple. This, too, would unneccessarilly agitate the local population they were tyring to rule over. It's a myth that Muslim rule over India was absolute, or that such concerns were beyond Muslim rulers. Many had to endure alliances with Hindu kings, and such.
It may well be the case that material from destroyed temples were used to construct such mosques. This was a very common practice, and I invite you to visit Egypt/greece/turkey and you'll see this first hand.
But if this were the case, then it is even more peculiar that any temples were left standing.

Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, to the north-east of minar was built by Qutbu’d-Din Aibak in AD 1198. It is the earliest extant mosque built by the Delhi Sultans. It consists of a rectangular courtyard enclosed by cloisters, erected with the carved columns and architectural members of 27 Hindu and Jaina temples which were demolished by Qutbu’d-Din Aibak as recorded in his inscription on the main eastern entrance.

However the other mosques are free to be worshipped in..and even new ones can be constructed anywhere if it fits..Even in Ayodhya muslims have been asked to take another place and build a mosque..
