and another thread on delivery

Re: and another thread on delivery

OMG can they get more illegal :smack: Sillies

Khawateen --may Allah make your delivery easy for you! I dont have any babies so no stories to share yet  but my sister and a few friends have delivered without epidural and they did not regret it and always recommend the same to me

yeah 4 days, I wonder what is better a quick and painful delivery or slow and painful delivery.

My due was on 7th of May but on 30th of April I was in labor I think it was false, started from 2 am in night I still delayed to check it was true or false at last at 4 am we were in the hospital, my nurse told me it is true labor and she called doctor, at 7:00 am I am in labor room and dilated upto 7 cm having pain but I am just quiet to bear the pain, in last moments her heart beat slow down then doctor changed the decision to c- section and at 7:30 operation is done.

When my pregnancy started I was curious that how much the pain is bearable, one of my friend told me this cute thing, don't think about pain just think about what u get after the pain, it diminishes all pain, thats true in my case.

Re: and another thread on delivery

all my friends who asked for epidural's, said that was the best thing that could have happened to them.
all my friends who had to be induced, swear never to go there again because it was so incredibly painful.
my friends that have had natural childbirth's, are so PRO that method- they basically refuse to go to the hospital until its just about time- instead they stay at home, take lukewarm baths, and weather it out. i always think though its gotta work better for your second one than your first one - i mean, unless you've been thru it once, how do you know when its time to go to the hospital??

there's just too much to think about, honestly. its so confusing, and i'm not even pregnant! i do know, however, that i'm signing up for a midwife as soon as i know i'm preggo. several girls i know have used them and they're very caring and look after both mom and baby, even for several weeks after birth.

Re: and another thread on delivery

SGC, read my post and you'll see you're exactly right! I didn't know it was time for me to go!

Re: and another thread on delivery

ahh.. im so happy for mid wives .. they are a part of the system here in denmark.. u see ure midwife more than u see ure gynae.. and they are present during birth too.. know ure case and u develop a relationship with them.. my husbands mid wife is still around and cares for him like her very own grandson.. infact he calls her gori daadi… the woman must be 90 now… doesnt remember much.. she knows who he is.. but keeps forgetting who i am. and whenever is reminded that im his wife.. she goes.. oh my baby got married  .. i wonder what she will do once she finds out im having a baby too and she will be per daadi  hehe…

and im so staying home and huffing and puffing.. the hospital is only 15 mins away.. i think it will work out

Re: and another thread on delivery

Re: and another thread on delivery

I was induced the first time after the 42 week period went flying past with no sign of any contractions.

It was done using a gel and didnt hurt a bit, labor came half an hour after that followed by birth 2 hours later.

It was fun :hula:

Second time was a nightmare

oh its so much fun reading other people experiences

well i went to my doc on friday and i was already 1cm dilated...and on monday my contractions started early morning....but in my mind i was still thinking k its false labor pain cuz my due date was 12 days away....eventhough i was in pain i was still thinking its not the time...its not the time....but by 4 pm....the contractions were every 4-5 min...i called my doc and she told me to go to the hospital...as my hubby was at work..i immediately called him....he was at walmart getting the boppy.....i was like come home ASAP....it took him 30 min to come home....by than my pain was extreme and i was getting mad at him for taking so much time...i was standing at the window waiting and thinking k i will yell at him for not coming earlier....as i was thinking that i saw him running towards our apartment....that made me say awwwww...he does care...lol....khair...we reached the hospital at 6....went to labor n delivery..the nurse was like your doc have not called yet...i was like WTH...she asked us to wait in the waiting area...after like 5 min...i was transfered to the room....i was still thinking in my mind k its too early...they will send me home....but the nurse was like nope you are not going anywhere...you are 3cm...thousand emotions rushed through my mind and i was WOW....by 7pm....i was 7cm dilated...as my water wasnt broke...the doc had to do it...and oh yeah i took the epidural cuz the pain was getting unbearable...after taking that i was soooo relaxed...and by 9 30 i was fully dilated...i started pushing at 9 30 and by 10 30..my Maha was born.....still get goosebumps thinking about it

Re: and another thread on delivery

awww, mrs. shikra!! yay for you! :)

adra, what was the name of the gel they used? do you remember?

niks, you were cutting it close, eh?

yes its my first baby. I also plan to take the epidural. Can anyone list things that are an absolute must for the baby in the first few weeks after delivery? I don't want to miss anything in my shopping.

Re: and another thread on delivery

Re: and another thread on delivery

^ i am entirely, completely, and totally anal about research, on anything that even remotely interests me. you should have seen me during my wedding -there's a reason i'm mod of Weddings, ya know? ;)

and now thats past and my friends are popping out babies, i've taken an interest in those.

for instance, if anyone has any questions on strollers, let me know! i've pretty much looked up and read reviews on every brand from swedish strollers (Emmaljunga are super hot but have to be imported into north america and are a bit heavy) to bugaboo (the original trendsetter but sadly surpassed by newer brands) to peg perego (italian hotness) to joolz (from the Netherlands and my #1 choice for future human child) and the american brands (i'coo targo anyone?).

its totally ridiculous considering we're nowhere near a baby yet, but i can't help it! i must know everything about this whole baby process and be well versed so when the time comes to make choices, i can make them confidently!

its a disease, i tell ya :P

Re: and another thread on delivery

SGC, I was like that with my first pregnancy, and working at the hospital at the time I had access to so many resources. I think to some extent, I was quite well prepared but the "delivery" is so amazing! You have to experience it for yourself as no one can really truly convey the feelings.

I think I had everything I needed for the baby. I registered at babycenter.com early in my pregnancy so they send you weekly newsletters on everything you need to know. I also went nuts comparing products and things for the baby.

But in all this excitement ladies, don't forget yourself. A healthy and happy mom makes a happy and healthy baby.

Re: and another thread on delivery

SGC no idea, it was a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry looooooooooooooooooooong time ago :D

Re: and another thread on delivery

SGC lol u are funny they way u are preparing urself, for my baby I too had registered myself with babycenter.com and I got a book that was so neat and informative and I read a local forum and of course I had peg perego because its was trendy, light and just right for city, but for my second kid insahallah bugahoo and I already have bought 8 new books and i am not even pregnant yet. lol

I love Joolz! I didn't even know it was a dutch brand.
Cool, will be easier for me to get one if/when I'm expecting :-)

Re: and another thread on delivery

oh dont even get me started on the stroller search sgc... i see so many diff kinds on the cobbled streets of copenhagen.. it makes me go cross eyed...so far im all for the Emmaljunga.. they come with detachable lifts so its a 2 in 1 with stroller which i think is really handy!....ive seen joolz and i thought it looked way cool but just not comfy enuff for an older kid like a toddler. the kid i saw looked he was gonna fall out.. yikes.

i think im just gonna go to diff stores and see what i like best... there is WAY too much info out there for my tiny brain :D

no epidural.....all I can say is painful. If you have ur hubby or someone else to support u and talk u through the process things will go a lot better.

I had epidurals for both, that's what i had decided a long time ago . And I had a doula (labor assistant) as well. Regarding the stay at home thing, well I tried my best but after 24 hours of labor when I went to the hospiatl I found out I still had 12 more hours to go. I had to have pitocin for the second one as my water had broken and the contarctions weren't bad enough . Basically they have to deliver within 24 hours if your water breaks, so either it was have my water broken or risk a c-scetion.
