Mirch, you are talking about two different things in your initial post, your first example is of spelling differences, second and third are based on different names for things.
A flat is the same as an apartment, just 2 different words.
Colour is the correct spelling of the word.
language is composed of vocabulary, pronunciation, spelling , grammar and accent. So I am talking about all the things.

A few years back Dustin Hoffman was on The Graham Norton show and did the most amazing Geordie accent I have ever heard by an American! Iv been trying to find it on youtube, but I think its too old! I love it when American actors do British accents, some of them are really good!
What is different about Canadian English ? I thought it is more like American English. No ?
