Its what these moms think. I seriously believe that east or west does not form the character of a person. The values and the character all depend on the brought up of a person irrespective of the place they have been living.

If you were born and raised in US, it makes sense to marry someone from USA instead of marrying someone from Pakistan. But then why do Pakistani guys in USA still end up looking for a wife in Pakistan rather than USA (besides cousin marriage ;))? Just wondering.

It is not 100% true. Few families end up with cousins marriage, while other prefer to marry american boran pakistani girl.

It depends what kind of religious education, but I might concede that point but not about culture. I know many many families whose parents talk to their kids in english; heck, my cousins can now understand some urdu but they were never taught here by any of the parents.

I live in Chicago where there is a HUGE population of desies and I only know of a few families where they didnt teach their kids Urdu…they taught them everything else…just not the language. Meaning, they are respectful, educated, cook, clean, are just as desi as you are, etc etc etc. They just dont speak Urdu.

Majority of the families here DO actually teach their children Urdu/Punjabi.

Well whose fault is that? Most parents who raise their kids with the proper values, love and attention their kids aren't going to act out or "go the wrong path"--sons and daughters. I really hate this mentality that marriage is somehow a cure for all things, how messed up is that? They'd rather pass the "problem" off to an innocent person rather than deal with their kids themselves.

its mainly parents fault that when its time to teach their kids values they dont do it and when these kids are out of their hands then these parents struggle and end up taking such steps. a bit of kids fault too because everyone in life reaches a stage where they know what is good and what is bad...jise shaoor ana kehte hain.

may god show the right path to such parents and kids.
