Am I a confused Christian?

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

I agree... trying to convert the girl... when she's obviously trying to be faithful to her own religion... is not the solution. Definitely not what she was looking for to begin with. As Muslims there is definitely nothing wrong with us helping someone to strengthen their own faith even if it's different from ours. The world needs better humans, whether the are Christian or Muslim or Jewish or Hindu makes very little difference.

If there are genuine arguments or genuine answers to delve deep into the philosophical nature of this question... by all means go for it. If the only answer is "read the Quran... go towards the Quran..." then really you are doing no one any novelty.

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

By saying all religions are man made - it does not make me an atheist. It makes me a progressive person, who questions 'blind faith'. I still call my self a Hindu - even though I do not believe in a lot of things there.

I believe all these so called wind God, fire God, Son of God, Prophets and Angel's are a figment of imagination of some men(women). All these stories of Adam & Eve, Noah's Ark etc are
an attempt to explain the unknown.

My contention is let humans with progressive minds continue to question the old beliefs, till we have better knowledge and understanding of the true "Creator".

I would like to expand on this ... you say that all religions are man-made, yet you fail to provide valid evidence of it. It is a claim you make without proof. On the other hand multiple witnesses documented in hadith in Islam show that those multiple witnesses have documented the events they talk about to such confirmation ... according to historians who understand the science of reference - it is categorical historical proof. To stand up and put Islam in the same basket as other religions which were less fortunate to not having scholars who took interest in authenticity and reproducing verbatim without adulteration ... is being fraudulent with good sense ...

Furthermore, if Islam can demonstrate that it is not a man-made religion in the sense that men did not sit down and devise it - then it shines on other religions too ... We hold that every culture at one time had guidance from God, but people changed the ways they were taught to suit their own fantasies.

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

Psyah: A lot of emotions are attached with one's religion, as such excuse me for saying this:

Where is the proof for anything, any of the Gods/prophets said.

*Jesus, Son of God - no proof
Mary, virgin - no proof
Resurrection, - no proof
Adam/Eve - no proof
Noah's ark - no proof
Prophet alone in cave, talking to God, - no proof.
Ganga river, Hindus bathe in it, & it purify our sins - ?? No proof
Muslims go to heaven, non muslims to hell - no proof.
Etc etc

  • Common sense, sometimes forces us to question blind faith - it does not mean PakiQueen is confused. Just curious.

Yes your questions are valid ... but so are the reverse questions ...

*Jesus not the Son of God - any proof?
Mary not a virgin - any proof?
Resurrection, - any proof for or against?

and so on ...

The problem is your starting point in the line of questioning is wrong. In a situation where something can neither be proven or rejected then other things must be done in order to gain weight regarding the matter.

Some people resort to their personal experiences and say "because I have never seen such a thing I cannot believe it to be true" ... however others will look for signs and evidence to support their arguments.

For example there is a claim "the Qur'an was a product of people's work" this can be tested ... in fact the Qur'an itself brings the test to us ... "Bring one verse like it" ... also the way it has been narrated and brought to us multiple witnesses have confirmed that the Qur'an had been revealed before their eyes when Muhammad (SAW) used to receive the Word he used to experience a weighty thing and deliver it while others used to document it. To say otherwise is to make the claim without proof ... We also have multiple character witnesses that confirm the truthfulness of Muhammad (SAW) ... and reason makes us realise that he (SAW) lived in humbleness and did not gain material wealth from his prophethood ... all of these add credibility to the religion.

There is no way we can know that Mary (AS) was a virgin, but with the Qur'an that has been demonstrated as being the Word of God - at least there is no choice to believe that any other humans did not add or subtract from it ... ths books confirms her virginity and also states that Jesus (AS) is not God.

In the absence of direct proof we have to gather empirical evidence and deduce by analogy and using these methods we can see there is far more supporting the ideas in religions than going against them ... *

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

Psyah: If we accept blind faith, there would there be no need to increase our knowledge. As humans we will stop progressing, or thinking. The christians will live in the past of 2000 years ago, the muslims 1400, and the hindus 5000 years ago.

Islam: Photograpy, music, singing, dancing, pigs(pork), alcohol are bad/haram.
Eve was conceived through adam's ribs, etc etc

Hinduism: Cow is sacred, no eating beef, prayng to different Gods and Goddess's. Stories about Krishan, Ram & Sita, Hanuman, Ravan etc etc. Ganga came from the hair of some goddess. Mother earth goddess took Sita away etc etc.

I repeat, all religions are man made, exceptional people (Gods/Prophets) wanted to set rules and regulations for society - to gain credibility they spoke about being 'son of God', or having 'spoken' to God, etc etc.

If we as humans have to continue to progress with knowledge, technology and science, we need to question the old beliefs, and be progressive.

Peace be to you psyah. Question for you. How does being a Muslim will guarentee you to paradise?. According to Muslims we Christians are considered to go hell. Even Christians think Muslims will to hell because of the difference of belief. So how does someone being a Muslim or matter of fact Christian would go to heaven?

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

Sorry Rari. My respond was more toward tabassum not you. You are right about one thing though. I am trying to find answer to this rational thinking. Because think about it. Human is a human whether he is Prophet, Messenger whatever. So how come a human being is given a status of God. Because to me. God Almighty is all powerful and have power over everything. So why not we only worship him riiiight. Thanks for being sweet.

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

Just like this is a visible world, there is an unseen world. If someone has a clean heart, God gives him/her access to the unseen world. Holy people, good-hearted people can go back and forth in both worlds. Satan of really high caliber can also get into the unseen world, but upto a limit

The unseen world is enormous, there are blessings and mysteries and miracles.

Modern science cannot explain these things, because it forms its basis on visible things.

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

Restless - That was your belief, however is there any proof .? As humans we do not have the full knowledge of who the Creator is (God), or if there is indeed a heaven & hell.

Perhaps in the future, we will learn of other planets having intelligent beings - with different beliefs and different Gods.

What I am saying is there is a possibility of so many things, humans have to continue searching for answers, we cannot just sit and say the Quran, Bible or Gita has all the answers! And End our search for knowledge.

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

That you will know, when I send you email from heaven to ...you know....
