Re: Am I a confused Christian?

I'm a Christian too but not really religious. So yeah you kinda are confused, ask your mom or something.

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

Peace pakiQueen

I'm not sure if you knew the answer to this question is present in both Christian scriptures and Muslim scriptures ...

The basic answer is that no one can enter paradise except by the Mercy of God ... Whereas when it comes to being granted paradise we believe that it is not important for us to say who will or who will not go to paradise as this decision is to be made by The Judge - which is a title of God. Rather we say that what Allah (SWT) loves for us we love it. He sent us the prophets so we love them and we show our love by following them.

We do not believe that there are different gods for different faiths ... and when we look we can see it is not necessarily the case that Muslims are in the best position ... rather Muslims are often tested and luxuries seem to belong to non-Muslims ... if God took sides then the most successful people should be the ones who are closest to God, but we see the reverse.

We believe in a God for the whole of humanity and the entire universe ... what I can say however is what the Qur'an says ...

(The way the Qur'an narrates is in the second person ... with the authority that only God can have ... The concept of Trinity is Shirk which is not acceptable to Allah (SWT) ... and whoever narrates the Qur'an is addressing you "People of the Book" requesting you not to believe in a Trinity - but to confirm that God is One ... Your belief pakiQueen of Jesus being a prophet and that God is One is totally compatible with Islam.)

Verse 4:171

People of the Book, do not go to excess in your religion, and do not say anything about God except the truth: the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was nothing more than a messenger of God, His word, directed to Mary, a spirit from Him. So believe in God and His messengers and do not speak of a 'Trinity'—stop, that is better for you—God is only one God, He is far above having a son, everything in the heavens and earth belongs to Him and He is the best one to trust.

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

You know, the Christian fellowship never could give a coherent answer about this when I was in college.

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

The answer that I have been given is that Jesus the man died, but Deity did not die. Which leaves big dogmatic problems behind.

It is impossible for us understand Jesus is both God and man at the same time, but on death the two are not the same.

And the final answer is that it is a mystery. However, a mystery it is not, confusion on the hand it is.

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

You fail to understand where i was coming from. You can't compare satan with a prophet. Jesus (AS) was nothing more than a prophet and a human. If He is a human which i believe is your belief too, then him living for the past 2012 years is pretty impressive and worth giving a thought that he in fact is someone more greater than just a human being, perhaps son of god or god himself. Thats what my point was. Iblis is Iblis, and therefore will remain alive.. had he come in a shape of human being and had as long of a life as you say Jesus has, then you could argued..you're comparing apples with oranges. Do give it a thought or you'll not have answers for christians.

ps: did not need to jump into this discussion again.. sorry about that.

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

Mr.Popat you do realize that Jesus(A.S) being alive for so long is God's doing for he holds the power over anything and everything. Jesus(A.S) does not have the power to live on his own will if God doesn't permit it!

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

WHY him is what i fail to understand. When God has told in quran that hes no more alive, and yet Muslims insist Him being alive. That is what im trying to say here. Muslims claim on Muhammad PBUH being the most superior prophet and messenger to mankind fails the very moment you say Jesus is alive. You ask how death can make one superior or inferior? its because one is granted long life with 2 missions (as per say), and His life is beyond the life of any ordinary human being, hence, believe it or not..but you do not have enough evidence to tell christians of how beautiful Islam is and how everything in Islam make perfect sense, and how Jesus (as) cannot be God or son of God because He died and if he was either one of them , he had not died.

There are natural phenomena known to man which are universally understood. We know that the life span of man on earth does not extend beyond a hundred and fifty years or so; certainly not a thousand years or more. This is a common experience relating to the span of human life on earth. If someone thinks that something contradictory to this rule has happened, then the burden of proof would fall on his shoulders, not on someone who believes in the rule rather than the exception. This should be applied to the situation enveloping the life and death of Jesus Christ. Those who believe that he did not die must provide the proof. But those who claim that he must have died, only follow the laws of nature and should not be required to prove it beyond that.

Again, my intention here is not to derail the topic in hand. By all means go ahead and keep believing what you're believing.

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

Here's how simple it is:

One God → Everything else is His creation, including Jesus (AS).

So, prophets, no matter how good they were and how many miracles they performed, were still creation of God, they were still His servant.

There's nothing and no one, that is worthy of coming up to the Majesty of God. He is alone and Self-Sufficient. He does not need sons or daughters. That's a concept for humans and animals, having sons.

Now, contrast that with:

God is three in one. he is God, he is the son of god, he is the holy spirit. How can god be a human and walk around, eat, sleep, and supposedly get killed?

Even if you think logically, which one makes more sense?

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

^but Holy Prophet Mohammed PBUH did go to the heavens, lead other prophets in prayers and spoke to Allah. Remember Surah Isra?

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

Paki queen, its not such a bad idea to refer to Quran, at least for the part where Jesus and Mary are mentioned. As per my knowledge Quran has got more info about them then you have in Bible. Actually you will know many new things about other Prophets too who are mentioned in Bible.
2ndly it will be a good idea to refer Quran coz you know that Muslims give equal respect to Jesus and all other prophets who came before him. So surely you are going to get some good info.

I got below from Bilal Philips, i thought I will share with you.

The Qur‘aanic account of Jesus’ ministry confirms most of his miracles mentioned in the Bible and identifies some not mentioned in the Bible. For ex-ample, the Qur‘aan informs that Jesus was a mes-senger of God from his birth, and his first miracle was speaking as a child in the cradle. After Mary had given birth to Jesus, people accused her of fo...r-nication. Instead of responding to their accusations, she pointed to her newly born child:“[When] she pointed to him, they asked, ‘How can we talk to a child in the cradle?’ He [Jesus] said: ‘In-deed, I am a servant of Allaah. He gave me the scripture and made me a prophet.’ ” Qur’aan, (19):29-30. Among his other miracles of bringing the dead back to life, healing lepers, and making the blind see, the Qur‘aan records another miracle not mentioned in the Bible. Prophet Jesus fashioned birds out of clay, blew on them and they flew away, living birds. But the point which is emphasized throughout the Qur‘aan is that whenever Jesus performed a miracle, he informed the people that it was by God’s permission. He made it clear to his followers that he was not doing the miracles by himself, in the same way that the earlier Prophets made it clear to those around them.

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

Wouldnt this question be better answered by your local parish leader?

That being said, I believe there is another Christian group that does not believe Jesus to be God. The Jehovas witnesses.

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

Hi Med911. I did ask but somehow their answer is very dodgy. As i saidd. Jesus was human being like all of us. How can he be God??????. Was talking to my friend from my church that i go to. While we were praying. I said something like: "oh god one and only help me understand you". My friend got annoyed and she said..i've (me) become rebellious to my religion. lolz. whatever dat means. Anyway i am going to go Unitarian church now.

Re: Am I a confused Christian?

Many "authentic" Christians do not consider Jehovah's Witness and Mormons to be Christians at all.
