Interestingly, on google news, none of the UK papers are mentioning any such arrest despite the news article originally linked stating that "The Police Commissioner has been quoted by a London-based newspaper stating that the killers would not be allowed to roam freely on the streets of London."
Rehman Malik may be right - this might be another case of the Pakistani press making up news.
It looks more like a cover up... even 2 days ago geo itself was reporting the admittance of London Police Commissioner regarding arrest of two guys from Karachi (because almost all other pakistani channels were showing it, they could not simply omit something right there).
and 4 news items came one after another
first - Imran's press conference on the occasion of Masood Sharif joining PTI, Imran in that press conference talked about giving more proves to Scotland Yard against Altaf,
second - Raza Haroon of mqm came right after this press conference saying "jisko Scotland yard janay ka shok hay wo apna shok poora kar lay"
third - news of London Police Commissioner accepting the arrests made in Karachi, and claiming that they are "actively" moving forward in this case
fourth - Abdul Rehman Malik coming talking to media right after this London Police Commissioner admittance and again saying no arrest was made and its a lie, he said London Police request for details from Pakistan but no arrest was made
and most important thing to note, yesterday's Jang had no mention of the london police accepting arrest but they printed abdul rehman malik refuting it. yet another very clear proof of jang group protecting mqm interests...

A senior Pakistani government minister tried to prevent key evidence being presented to Metropolitan Police detectives investigating the murder of a politician, according to a British peer.
Rehman Malik, Pakistan’s interior minister, telephoned Lord Ahmed allegedly asking him not take a key witness to meet police for fear his evidence would harm the country’s coalition government.
Imran Farooq, a senior figure in the MQM party, was stabbed to death outside his London home in September last year. He had lived in Britain since 1999 and suspicion immediately centred on rivals within his own party, which is known for the thuggish methods it uses in Karachi.
One man has been arrested on suspicion of murder but police are still hunting a man seen at the scene, as well as a network of accomplices.
The investigation could be kick-started with the new evidence from Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, a member of Mr Malik’s own Pakistan People’s Party, who was, until recently, the home minister in Karachi.
He is understood to have brought details of telephone intercepts relating to a plot to kill Dr Farooq, implicating figures within the MQM.
Lord Ahmed, Dr Mirza’s host in Britain claimed he had received a call “out of the blue” from Mr Malik on the night before they had been due to meet detectives, asking him not to meet police for fear the evidence would poison relations between the parties. “I told him I was a member of the House of Lords and he could not tell me not to do my job,” Lord Ahmed said.
The peer and Dr Mirza were attacked in the street last week as they arrived for a television interview in Manchester. Police are treating the incident as politically motivated.
The MQM is one partner in a fragile coalition that has governed Pakistan since 2008. Damaging revelations could precipitate a political crisis and bring down the government of Asif Ali Zardari.
Dr Farooq was a founding member of the party but in recent years had fallen out with MQM leader Attaf Hussain, who also lives in London.
Imtiaz Gul, director of the Centre for Research and Security Studies in Islamabad, said: “This case could be explosive, particularly if it implicates the MQM.
“And once again it seems as if you have politicians trying to protect themselves rather than doing what is best in the long-term interests of the state.”
It is understood that the new evidence, which has now been presented to Scotland Yard, includes details of telephone conversations between the two alleged assassins and an MQM fixer.
The two men allegedly used false identities and student visas to enter Britain.
Local media reported they had been detained in Karachi in August but Pakistani authorities deny they were ever arrested. Other intercepts allegedly detail conversations saying that they were to be killed on their return to Pakistan.
**Calls to Mr Malik’s office were not returned.
However, a senior government official played down any suggestion of interference in the murder hunt.
“It is not possible to interfere with an investigation in an independent country like that,” he said.
A spokesman for the British High Commission in Islamabad, said: “We are happy with the level of co-operation from the Pakistani authorities in this case.”

I am sure , British by now would have enough evidence , but this case is just an arm twister , to keep the London PEER In Line .
the International Establishments he talks about is real , he know he is just a KEG , a Peg in a greater design of things . and times again he has tried to sell him self , with offers to hold rallies and even spy on the religious extremist in Pakistan , if wikileaks are credible. ...but its his masters who will choose the time , till then , the evidence in case will be used as a leverage , to keep him in line ..... British is a nation , which has the strongest sense of history , it was the defeat of Siraj uddaulah in 1757 , which allowed to them work meticulously , culminating in the final grand full control of the sub continent in 1857 , then again the first world war , after which they knew that the colonial ERA is over ,and they worked themselves out from the former colonies , and unlike other colonists are the only colonial master who in spite of all the wreckage they did in their colonies have their reputation and respect intact , when the 1997 Hong Kong withdrawal became evident , they started working on in from 1984 in Pakistan , where they found ready and willing former colonial subject for their cause , fortunately/ unfortunately Hong Kong Issue was deferred for another 50 years , and 9/11 happened , so accordingly the plans have changed , till appropriate time , and Peer Sahibs know that , also ground realties in Pakistan and especially Karachi have taken a twist ..... Lets only hope all ends well , which honestly I don't see happening .

To be honest these all guys in photographs are killers and bhatta khors rapists. They should have been hanged a long time ago had ISI/agnencies not protecting them. It is unfortunate such high class urban terrorists have sound backing of government machinery to meet their ends. How the hell the conditions in Karachi will improve when these killers are deities or role models for supporters, living free luxurious lives here and abroad? Pakistan ki qisamat hi kharab hay.
