today was a typical shoaib performance.
he bowls fast, it looks good but as usual he gets clobbered
reason being he does not stick to the line and legnth and bowl to the field which has been set for him
its good to be fast when u are accurate when u are not u get hit all over the park as shoaib normally does
the fact with akhtar is that when the going gets tough shoaib gets going all round the cricket stadium

My friend don’t waste your time…just read what I said before. We were discussing Brett Lee and Shoaib Akhtar. You said he is far behind him…I said Brett Lee statistics wise in his career is not far behind rather than pretty much the same.
About WC, Shoaib did not perform well against England and India as he was too expensive. As compared with Brett Lee he came through when needed especially against NZ in the Super Sixes.

brett lee ODI stats are very much similar to shoaib akhtar. Although akhtar test stats are much better than lee. Infact akhtar if not better then has the similar stats when you compare his averge with the current aussie bowling lineup . I guess only mcgrath has better bowling average then akhtar in test matches.

Secondly did u watch the match? Because i watched it and i think he was looking really fit. As long as huffing and puffing is concerned when are bowling at 100mph you huff and puff as well. Now don’t tell me you have got problem with his huffing and puffing as well, as if its an environmental problem.

Obviously sir you need to read posts more carefully. Its natural for fast bowlers to huff and puff and that explains his bloated neck. I didnt say he shouldnt huff and puff.
But that beer belly is really telling stories.

Well yaar, I just wasted my time to let you know that if batting is performing consistently (as Australians’ did in every match), the chances of being good at bowling are increased many times. This was and is the factor with Australia. Their batting is so stable that their bowlers are always confidant that they will definitely have a score of 250-350 on the board. Thus they try to pressurize the opponent from very first ball.
Now, What Bret Lee did against England? He failed to even take a single wicket and conceded 58 runs. Akhter took one wicket for 63… If Bret Lee took some wickets against NZ, Akhter also took some against Namibia to let Pakistan defend a total of 250 I guess (250 against Namibia:eek: , batting master-class by Pak). Now you can say here that Namibia is not comparative to NZ, then why Bret Lee failed to manage some wickets against them???
It is never a good idea to compare bowlers like Bret Lee or Irfan Pathan against Shoaib Akhter, just on the basis of performance in some matches. Bowlers like Bret Lee and especially Pathan come and go each day.
Bret Lee is a very good bowler but he is not a class of bowler to compare with Shoaib Akhter. Like Wasim Akram was the king of his time and Waqar younis was a hallmark in his time, this age belongs to Shoaib Akhter.
