Akhter Corner : Summer Performances (Merged, please do NOT start another)

Re: Shoaib Akhar in action against BD on Sunday

Brett Lee is far ahead of Irfan Pathan and is very similar with Shoaib. If you are saying that Shoaib Akhter is the king of this time then in what sense?

About you comparing Namibia game and Brett Lee etc. My point was from the beginning that Akhtar failed to come through in an important match like Brett Lee did in Super Sixes against NZ. Akhtar had a chance against India and everyone thought he could perfrom well. Even he suggested that he will do the damage but, unfortunately he failed.

Late Decision On Shoaib

Thu 07 Jul, 6:09 PM

Worcestershire will make a late decision on the fitness of Shoaib Akhtar before naming their side to face Yorkshire at New Road in Division Two of the Frizzell County Championship.

The Pakistan paceman suffered a calf strain during the Twenty20 Cup match against Glamorgan on Wednesday and has been undergoing treatment in a bid to recover in time.

Coach Steve Rhodes will make at least one change to the team as they return to four-day action, with David Leatherdale dropping out of the squad. Steve Davies and Matt Mason are brought into the 12-man squad and the latter is expected to take Shoaib's place if he is ruled out.

bechara, haunted by injuries.

Jumbo-Jets are only used when highly desirable, they take some special care when they are out of order and they have long run-up too, but still they can outperform normal competitors in all regards.

Probable quote: in Shoaib Akhter's very next interview.

Re: Akhter Corner : Summer Performances (Merged, please do NOT start another)

If nothing else his pride will be his own undoing. Lets see how long he holds up before he shortens his run up.

Re: Akhter Corner : Summer Performances (Merged, please do NOT start another)

Shoaib Akhtar produced a fiery burst of pace bowling for Worcestershire but Northamptonshire refused to cave in. Shoaib’s second spell helped reduce Worcestershire from 150 for 1 to 173 for 8 and five of his wickets were clean bowled

Shoaib bowling figures were: 14-3-47-6

Re: Akhter Corner : Summer Performances (Merged, please do NOT start another)

^ that's help reduce 'northants' bhai, he plays for worcestershire remember?

Re: Akhter Corner : Summer Performances (Merged, please do NOT start another)

Re: Shoaib Akhar in action against BD on Sunday

I hope he can continue this performance.

Re: Akhter Corner : Summer Performances (Merged, please do NOT start another)

Right on, sounds like Shaoib is back........

Re: Akhter Corner : Summer Performances (Merged, please do NOT start another)

he must remain fit....

Re: Akhter Corner : Summer Performances (Merged, please do NOT start another)

Worcestershire have revealed that fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is with the club on a pay-as-you-play contract.
He was unable to play against Yorkshire two weeks ago because of a calf strain and the amount he earns for the rest of the summer depends on him staying fit.

"He is here on the basis that he will do well if he appears and performs," said chief executive Mark Newton.

"If he doesn't do either of those things, then he will not be costing the club a lot of money."

Shoaib showed his value to the side by taking 6-47 in the first innings of their last Championship game against Northants, but it failed to prevent them suffering an 82-run defeat.

But they are fourth in the Division Two table, just nine points behind third placed Yorkshire, and in contention for a promotion spot.

"Shoaib has come here for two reasons - to try and resurrect his own career and, we hope, to win us some games," Newton added.

"The contract is very incentive linked and appearance linked. We have never done this with a player before because we do not think it is ideal in terms of the team culture.

"But Shoaib was delighted to come to Worcestershire on that basis and what he did at Northampton last week is what we have brought him here for."

Shoaib was left out of the Pakistan squad for a home series against India and tour to West Indies earlier this year but the selectors were not satisfied about his fitness.

He had to return home early from Australia last winter because of a hamstring problem.

mere pyare Allah Mian even though personally i hate shoaib anc cnat stand his brand of show shaa but please please oh please let him get fit soon because in my book he has suffered a lot and if anything deserves a break Ameen

Re: Akhter Corner : Summer Performances (Merged, please do NOT start another)

Another good performance by shoaib. Bowling against Northamptonshire, shoaib took 5 for 55 in 9.2 overs as result Northamptonshire was dismissed on 189. Way to go shoaib. Inshallah he will be ready to destroy england in November.

Re: Akhter Corner : Summer Performances (Merged, please do NOT start another)

^ Yeah well done. I a, happy for his performances but he has already been ruled thrice for county matches for variuos reasons. I hope he doesnt suffer against England.

Re: Shoaib Akhar in action against BD on Sunday

In "Afro-Asian Cup, 2005, 1st Match", playing for Asian XI, Shoaib (2 for 40 in 7.3 overs) helped his team to restrict African XI to 198 in 44.3 overs.

Once again his efforts were denied by the failure of top order batsmen.

Akhter tried to play his role in batting by scoring 15 runs off 13 balls. Asian XI were all out for 196 in 48.1 overs and lost this match by 2 runs. In same game, Youhana and Inzamam managed a combined score of 7.

-Nikema-

Mushy is continuing to perform as well as he was last season for sussex but pak shun him as usual. Rana has been the real start though, he has bowled very well in the 4 day game and in the toesport league.]

Dany has bowled a lot of overs for essex but hasn’t took a lot of wickets. Recently pak were pressing essex to use him carefully as he’s needed for our busy winter.

Mohammed Akram ex pak and Azhar Mehmood are playing well for surrrey, infact mo is taking a lot of wickets.

Saqi was released from his contract by surrey when he broke down in training after recovering from a double knee operation last year i think it was. Surrey still let him use the facilities at their club but he isn’t playing for a county as of yet. He’s playing league cricket i think.

Shabi is coming back into form, recently usman afzaal creamed him during a totesport league match and he responded with the bat in that game and took 6 wickets the game afterwards. He needs these performances under his belt.

Re: Akhter Corner : Summer Performances (Merged, please do NOT start another)

like you said...Shoaib and Rana are looking goood...Shoiab has been performing with the bat as well which is good...Danish may have been doing awfully in the 4 day game but he has actually done quite well in the 1 dayers...hes bowled economically and has got wickets...Pakistan should give him a little run out rather then persevering with second rate spinners who can bat...Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi are good batsmen but neither is a world class bowler and with the World Cup coming up we need a top class spinner in the 1 day team...

Akhter is flying this summer.
