Having watched him bowl today I don't think the figures justify the way he bowled. He quite impressive in his bowling and Smith said that he was very fast.

He shouldn't be judged in this match. Let him come back in the team then prove his worthiness, cuz I don't believe in county performances anyway. He is great as a "bowler", but he has to improve and prove to be a "team player".

The continious failure of our batting line (including at least 3 so called legends, Inzy, Youhana and Younis Khan) in WC03 is still a mystery. I was quite surprised why PCB did not put an inquiry on these players at that time.

Only Saeed Anwar (that is what a true legend is all about) delivered a descent batting display.

Our bowling master class was just left unaffected by Inzy and his BOYS.

PCB … they dumped all of them ! (including Inzi).

Smooth bhai it looks like you believe other people comments or staements when judging players performance so let me post here some statements from the players and commentators who were there in todays’ match
Commentator: Shoaib was bowlng today with a firey pace, he was touching almost 100miles
Greame smith: Yes,i guess the speed gun was showing 95 miles or more but when i was facing him it felt that he is bowling with more pace

During the ceremony when fleming came to recieve the winning captain award

Flemings: Well he was bowlng with real pace and it was good to stand in the slips for change and not facing him.

Holding: Shoiab was bowling with real pace and we could see that he was making life difficult for batsmen today.

Now my friend, as you said that wicket taking is the potency of the geniune fast bowler. Believe me, I don’t want to start a discussion arguing with you that shoiab is a geniune fast bowler and he has the potential to take wickets, because I know you know and we al know that he is a genuine fast bowler with potential to take wickets. As far as i remember the probelm with shoiab was his fitness and discipline. So now you want to come up with a new one? He can’t take wicketss

uff! read my post again. I believed what ehsan bhai or commentrators said, cuz I didn’t watch the match, they did. They saw him bowling and since ehsan bhai is saying that his stats don’t show his real form today, so I said that would have been the case and I agree with him and others. I also wished to see him in full rythem, that also includes intelligent LnL and wicket taking.

The last line in my previous post was for your earlier comment. A bowler is also judged on his wicket taking ability. Since he has little success in the recent two outings, so I wished to see him in full rythem. Why ur going into circles and don’t get the point in the first place

What proves Shoaib Akhter as the most deadly bowler?
It is not fair to blame Shoaib Akhter for his failure in one match or in some matches.
Shaoib Akhter ia a class bowler who have his name in the list of the top 10 bowlers ever to play international TEST cricket, when it come to strike rate. He gets a wicket in every 44th delivery. The list includes Waqar Younis (43) as well in the top 10. Just to compare, Glen Mcgrath require 51 deliveries, and Bret Lee require 53.

Now if we compare Akhter against Bret Lee for instance,
Akhter has 144 wickets in 36 Tests, 4 wickets per match at a strike rate of 44. (a wicket in 44 balls)
Bret Lee has 139 in 37 Tests, 3.7 wickets per match at a strike rate of 53. (a wicket in 53 balls)
Hence,
Akhter is definitely better and deadly than Bret Lee or any other fast bowler who is playing these days.

Well Dear Friend,Here are answers to your questions.

JAHIL?
We are talking about cricket, not recruiting CIO or choosing our leaders. A jahil person can outperform many well educated persons on the basis of his performance (compare Shoaib against any other person to check it). Education has nothing to do when selecting a cricket team. You select persons who can perform on the pitch. If you fail to do so, then you will never have a competitive team.

Interviews and Stupidity?
As for the interviews, Shoaib is the only REAL superstar our team have these days. It is very common for the super stars to give interviews like he gives. Remember the days of legendary Wasim and Waqar? Recall their interviews; there is nothing special that Shoaib adds. These are all the same. It is not just Pakistan fast bowlers (not talking about medium pacers that are always a part of the BOYS), all fast bowlers have this sort of behavior. Recall interviews or behavior from Ian Botham, Malcom Marshal or any fast bowler and you will find nothing special in Shoaib. All fast bowlers tend to be stupid. Now do you know that one Australian fast bowler even kicked Miandad on the pitch? Did Shoaib ever do some thing that stupid?

I am very much interested in cricket, have subscriptions to many cricket and sport journals for years, and have read almost all major interviews of cricketers all over the World, at least for past 7-10 years. There is nothing special that is present in Shoaib Akhter’s attitude or behavior. It is always hard for any team to deal with fast bowlers any where.

Notes:

[When I use the term fast bowler, I mean THE Fast Bowler. Not Medium Pacers. At the time of this writing, Pakistan has just one Fast Bowler in their squad and that is Shoaib Akhter. The rest (Rana Naved, Shabir Ahmed, Rao Iftikhar…) are all medium-fast, also known as medium pacers. Mohammed Sami sometime makes fast deliveries but he too is not a genuine fast bowler]

[Similarly Australia have just two fast bowlers, Bret Lee and Gillespie. Both of them have reported many times for their behavior and interviews thus it is very common to find one of them out of the Australian squad for no reason.]

Well, there is always a reason behind every thing.
In this case, Inzy and many other super stars get no attention from the media and commentators when Shoaib is in the team. Every one is busy focusing or discussing him. This has created jealousy among other players for Shoaib Akhter.

But our team is performing well without him?

Inzy and his team of BOYS are just trying to prove that Shoaib is not important and thus they went to India and to OUT OF THE FORM WI, to show their skills and capabilities.
Now India was a rank higher than us in ICC Test ranking, when we went there, and we hardly managed to draw the series. In ODIS, India was 4 places below us, and we won easily. Nothing special at all. We were never able to restrict India under 250. If we scored, they scored as well and we won marginally in each ODI.

WI was well below us in both ODI and Test rankings. We won the ODIs and draw the Test series just to loose points.

Well,

PCB, players and our stupid media have started a campaign against Shoaib Akhter for last few months. This thing is just stupid and it hurts to me as a fan of cricket and as a Pakistani as well. Akhter is the best talent we have right now in cricket and we are letting him wasted just because some players and PCB have problems with him.

Australians have always put Bret Lee as he is a Hollywood superstar, and we even will not let Akhter play for the team…Akhter in all regards is a much better bowler that Bret Lee, McGrath, or any Australian bowler.

Bret Lee performed well in last match/series, he is definitely better than Shoaib Akhter…

Performance in some matches does not make some one a better bowler. When it come to career analysis, Bret Lee is far behind Shoaib Akhter.

When Pakistan went to India, Tendulkar took 5 or more wicket in a match, now can I say that he bowls better than Bret Lee?

On any comparison, Akhter outclass every other present fast bowler. This makes him the no. 1 fast bowler of his time. SO he is not wrong with his claim.

Though he must not make such claims in his own interviews. But all fast bowlers used such claims in the past too. Botham, Marshal, Wasim, Waqar,… all of them

Australian squad is much stronger than us these days. When we had two fast bowlers (Wasim and Waqar), it was very common to have either one of them or both in the squad. These days we just have one Fast Bowler. That is Shoaib Akhter. If he is not in the team then we are definitely playing without a fast bowler.

Lara to be Trained by a Pakistani coach

Brian Charles Lara, the greatest active batsman these days, after recieving a lot of criticism from his fans and critics all over the World, has finally given up. It has been heard (from sources) that Lara have finally found many technical faults in his playing style. Most importantly, Lara has just discovered that even after scoring about 10,000 runs in each form of cricket, one days and TesT, playing two of the best innings in cricketing history and facing almost every bowler in this World, his comments about the game have totally no value. He even was never able to judge a bowler correctly. He is still unable to judge, which bowler is good and which is not.

These things have put Lara in a anxious state. Lara was heard to have even considering retirement, when he discovered that there are people on this planet who have a better understanding of cricket and bowlers than he has. Although still unsure but rumors are there that Lara is considering the possibility of hiring some one from Pakistan as a trainer, so that he will be able to judge bowlers correctly and thus play them in a better way (if there is one).

Yes i was replying to some one else who said that he was a complete failure today and then you replied to that post of mine. Anyways dude i also don’t have the luxury of following the county cricket its just that dishnetwork in USA were kind enough to telecast the match:D . We can carry on discussing and arguing about shoiab and make umer bhai nauseate every time:D but the bottom line is for the betterment of the team we all want a fit and in form shoiab back in the side. Hopefully he will be able to deliver what is expected from him Inshallah.
