Aging Vs. Decaying

Very interesting from the author of a book called Younger Next Year: A Guide to Living Like 50 Until You’re 80 and Beyond

It turns out that only about 30% of what we see as aging is biological aging. 70% of it is just decay. It’s dry rot from the way we live our lives. And the research is clear you can skip all of that decay entirely.

Our bodies are constantly reshaping themselves the whole way through our lives. For instance all the muscle cells in your leg renew themselves about every three months. Our bodies rework themselves over and over and over again. And each time they get stronger or they get weaker based on the chemical signals from our lifestyles. If you exercise, if you eat right, if you connect emotionally to other people, your body builds a stronger version the next time around. And if you don’t, it builds a weaker version

Re: Aging Vs. Decaying

I have observed that people who are very casual about their eating habits & sleep, and do not exercise become like unoiled machines.

Give you an example, my MIL is in her early sixties and another aunty in our family is of her age. My MIL walks regularly, is very active in her home, reads, eats right, takes supplements, etc. This aunty only eats ghee and chicken, no fruits or vegetables, isn't active, and although she has not been diagnosed with any hereditary diseases unlike my MIL who has hypertension and high cholesterol and arthritis, aunty is weak and decaying if you may. She lacks energy and motivation.

ghee is good for u! no?

Re: Aging Vs. Decaying

Not if you have high cholestrol

I felt perhaps this needed to be more focused. From the view of emotionally connecting with different people, setting yourself 'free' and letting your mind set high on things, out of the box - most humans thinks on a linear pattern. Think of linear as something as a straight line with intervals. Interval 1, interval 2, interval 3, and so on. Many people have different sets of intervals. Interval 1 could be when you reach your puberty, interval 2 could be when you have hit that point in your life where you are more matured and feel secured about yourself, interval 3 could be perhaps settling down in life. These are all points where the thought process is linear. You think of one thing, you achieve it, you think of the next thing, you achieve that, and so on. Most successful people in life hardly follow the linear pattern. Their thought process remains outside the box, they think long and high, they aim where they can't reach but they try to reach the closest point and then they aim again, further this time. For this group, when they settle down in life, they are really happy where they are, they get that mental stability. Perhaps not related to the entire topic, but for the highlighted post above, these are my thoughts on connecting emotionally. There are certainly drawbacks to this as well.

Yes, your soul (not body) builds a stronger version when you can connect emotionally with people. Your mind is set free, it is no longer boxed up.

A question? Why some young ppl look older than their age and vice versa?

Re: Aging Vs. Decaying

Nicely put DB

So you do agree that emotional connection makes you, physcially, a healthier person

its decay .. smoking, air pollution, dirty drinking water kill our cells, also skin cells, so skin decays faster ..

why do you think patients are asked to move to mountain resorts where air and water are cleaner. Its so when body re-generates new cell, they dont decay easily.

so two urban dwellers with almost the same life style will decay differently or same?

Re: Aging Vs. Decaying

It depends upon immunity, enviornment, choices, habits .. so many factors .. so if lifestyle is same, they might decay similarly but not in identical manner

Re: Aging Vs. Decaying

absolutely, true Tariq bhai. also, spiritual health is most necessary.

Re: Aging Vs. Decaying

Thanks for sharing I have gone very serious about my exercise routines now and have been on tread mill for last two days straight without gap. No not on 24x7 basis half an hour each day. Pray for me that I can keep this routine and start increasing the time.
