Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him of code of conduct violation)

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

4 Test please :) However some measures should have been taken by PCB, sadly none :) what is the time for the hearing?

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

what did he do :(

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

4 odis and 2 test is the minumum.decision will be made after the the 3rd odi.if he gets banned for 8 odis that will mean hes going to miss 6 world cup matches...may get a chance to play in the super 8 or semis if pak gets that far.4 match ban wont hurt pak so much since the first 3 matches of pakistan are against west indies, ireland and zimbabwe..he ll be available for zimbabwe if that happens.

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

Guys, will you please calm down? Its all good.

Afridi only performs in 1 out of 25 games. His quota for performance in this series and the World Cup is already runneth over. I bet Inzi/Woolmer called Speed to get this thing re-investigated. With his 77 and 3 wkts in the last game, the team was forced to play Afridi in the remaining games and we all know when he is hyped how poorly he performs. His banning will save the team and many of us from high blood pressure, uncontrollable rage and abrupt shaking of the head syndrome, that usually affects those who are watching Afridi gift his wicket away by trying to hit a six off every ball.

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

but what did he do :-S

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

LOL....exactly right.....I was about to write something along these lines :D

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

:biggthumb

Thanks a million for keeping things in perspective

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

Its not about Afridi being a prized possesion and Pak being robbed of him, rather about how they want to jump on the smallest error and hammer Paki players.

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

Not justifying Shahid Afridi’s behavior under any circumstances, because from the accounts of those who did see it, arguably he needs a code of discipline. This will not be the last time, as he has faced bans in the past as well. I am simply looking for the answers to the following questions:

  1. Gibbs punishment, for calling the entire nation deragatory names, was only two Tests. Afridi’s punishment, for likely hearing something that he personally did not like, is more than that of Gibbs. How is this plausible?

  2. One of recently implemented rules of ICC state the following -

----------------------
The ICC Chief Executives’ Committee has agreed to adopt and implement an amended Anti-Racism Code. The amendments will allow countries to impose a range of punishments on spectators found guilty of racial abuse, ranging from ejection from the venue to a life ban.

The ICC warned that members failing to uphold the code could also face penalties if racist incidents happen at a venue under their control, those penalties ranging from warnings through to fines and the possible withdrawal of international status from the venue where any incident took place. (CricInfo)
----------------------

If this was indeed the case, Shahid Afridi should have gone straight to match referee, Chris Broad’s office, and submitted his complaint the legal way, instead of displaying street manners.

  1. Lastly;

----------------------
The ICC has dismissed the criticism that its decision not to take action against Shahid Afridi is because “The ICC Code of Conduct says the four umpires, the team managers and the CEO of the home board can all lay a charge, but they must do so within 18 hours of the end of the match. The fact of the matter is none of these people did so,” Brian Murgatroyd, the ICC media and communications manager, was quoted. (CricInfo)

And now this?

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

Pak should immediately schedule an ODI series with 4 or 5 games with BD/Zim/Kenya before the world cup...so Afridi can play in the WC

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

If thats true than I guess he is saved, isn’t he?

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

no Malcolm speed wants to charge Afridi.

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

^ There you go folks. When Some1 wants Afridi to play in the WC, you better believe it will be bad for Pakistan ... :D

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

Do the warmup matches count as official contests?

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him off code of conduct violation)

he should have been punished. Its true he did not hit the spectator but still pointed his bat, in a threatening way. So , ban is all good. We should grow up and accept it.

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him of code of conduct violation)

Well the big picture might be that they let out a punishment, PCB immediately files appeal he plays next match, then get the punishment reduced to something reasonable if it was not that already.

So that seems to be the way the wind blows these days....charge > hearing > verdict > appeal > wait > rehearing > reduced or same punishment.
Benefit at the end: Player and team get more time to play games.

boring....

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him of code of conduct violation)

what did he do? everybody points a bat at the crowd when they hit 50 or 100 etc in celebration and acknlowledgement....what happened?

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him of code of conduct violation)

^ Issi masoomiat pe marr na jaatay!!! :)

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him of code of conduct violation)

na garmiha........
he got out and on his way back to the pavilion a spectator said something and afridi pointed his bat which seems to be like couple of inches away from that spectators chin.

Re: Afridi in hot water (ICC accuses him of code of conduct violation)

big deal! what is this, elementary school? Spectator can say anything and player has to just take it and smile back? Ask same spectator if he wants Afridi banned and what do you think he will say?

These ulloos in ICC always are looking for showing they exist and want big piece of money that comes from Asia countries.

I wish the Asian 4 will quit ICC and form ACC. If Aussies want to join fine but none of the others are allowed unless they give in writing that they give up on their master complex

PS: BTW I don't like Afridi at all - because of the pitch dancing manipulation he did in the past which to me points to flawed spirirt or character but that is not the point here.
