A 5-0 loss in Australia and no invites to the IPL has given Afridi and Co much food for thought
In the aftermath of the 5-0 ODI series defeat, the Pakistan dressing room was silent, save for the occasional chomping sound as Shahid Afridi chewed sadly on an old cricket ball.
Young Umar Akmal spoke up.
“I’m absolutely devastated,” he said.
“Nom gnnow, mffing IPLnom nom,” said Afridi.
“What did he say?” asked Umar.
“He said, ‘I know, I can’t believe we’re missing the IPL’,” explained Shoaib Malik.
“No, no, I meant that I’m devastated we’ve just lost eight games in a row against Australia,” said Umar.
“Aw, bless him,” said Malik. “He still has a lot to learn.”
The leader rose to his feet.
“Never mind boys, this IPL Twenty20 business is not all it’s cracked up to be, anyway,” said Mohammad Yousuf. “I’ve heard they make you run around, practise catching, even trying this new-fangled ‘running people out’ skill.”
Afridi put down his half-eaten ball.
“I just think it is a great sadness for the cricketing peoples of the world that such ambassadors for the game as myself will not be playing,” he said. “Who will teach the young cricketers of tomorrow how to ball-tamper with the teeth?”
“Yes indeed, Shahid,” said Yousuf. “And what about your expertise in pitch-tampering with the pirouetting feet? For myself, I am just sorry that my knee injury prevents me running around too much and showing the younger fellows how it’s done.”
“I thought it was your back that was injured?” said Afridi.
“Whatever,” said Yousuf. “Knee, back, leg. It’s all very tiring. And I deserve a rest after this heroic campaign.”
“For my part, I feel sad that IPL cricketers will not benefit from my expertise in dietary supplements,” added Mohammad Asif. “How am I going to pay off all my fines now?”
“The whole business is an outrage,” said Afridi. “Will nobody think about my poor accountant?”

Darrell Hair must be a happy man today. After all he has been vindicated. I think this is the first blatant act of ball tampering ever. Sure there have been many in the past but nothing as open as this one.

why are ppl so surprised... Afridi is an idiot, was an idiot and will always be an idiot. he is unprofessional, was unprofessional and will always be unprofessional...
I hope this finally means the end of the nonsense about him being the next captain. he's a selfish prick who thinks he "deserves" captaincy now that he's one of the oldest and hence, of course, senior-most players.

Your comments remind me of the time when people use to curse Musharaf and they were finally able to take him down. After that, they got Zardari as president.

^ see once again, ur missing the point. You cannot compare it like that. The example your giving doesnt work here. The accountant would be in jail because he would have ripped other people off to benefit himself.
The difference here is Afridi didnt do this for himself but did it for Pakistan. Yeah, no doubt it was a stupid thing to do when there's about 30 camera's around you and you have been caught doing pitch dancing before and have about 15 years of international cricketing experience.
But once again the point is, he was desperte for Pakistan to win...he's the type of player who would go to lengths just to make Pakistan win. But, obviously, he should only be made captain again with a stern warning that if anything stupid like this happens again you will not only be stripped of captaincy, but you will never represent Pakistan ever again.
Plus, its not like we have great future captain's waiting in the wings to take over...sadly he is our only hope. To me, what Yousuf did while captain was even more embarassing than this. Losing matches when we were clearly headed for a win, and when losing, we looked worse than BD and Zim. Plus, the remarks Yousuf made after Butt ran him out, and when Manzoor scored a very gutsy 77 of 240 deliveries, instead of praising him, he comes out and says his technique is not good and needs to go back and fix that first. Yousuf, your own technique is perfect but what did you do during the whole tour?? Have you ever seen Sehwag or Chanderpaul bat? Did you even score 77 runs in any innings on this whole tour and or NZ tour? If he's saying all this crap in front of the media, I can only imagine what these players go through in the dressing room because of his paindooness. I can go on and on of his list of stupidities just in a couple tours as captain.

Wrong example. Mainly because you are exagerrating the situation. Khair for the sake of discussion lets discuss it. However you should have said this:
Would you hire the only competent accountant available for your bankrupt orgranization who has served a sentence in jail for a small felony OR would you hire incompetent accountants with no history of jail though some of them may have history of misdemeanors with no jail time to save your bankrupt organizartion?
