Re: advice needed
dude, do what you want!
it WILL make you happy. even if you dont become a top chef.
oh and, your mind should always be in a state to think properly. cuz only you understand yourself! dont undermine yourself.
Re: advice needed
I can cook all Punjabi food but obviously I have to get a diploma in culinary arts and cordon bleu to call myself a professional cheff.
Cookery school is much cheaper than the psychology degree and with becoming a chef I'll have a lot of future opportunities like running my own business.
Are u kidding me... Every desi family has a nut job (if not all) needeing to be mentally fixed..imagine all the money u could make!

My husband wouldn't invest in my dreams so there you go....all the dreams outta window.
No one believes in me and why should they? I have such a bad attitude. I hate myself.

I think I'm gonna start a desi recipe book....no money and skills are required for that.
Re: advice needed
Should I go back to college and complete my degree in Psychology or should I become a professional chef?
Do what you want to do, its hard to guide you with your passion. I would personally go for a professional degree if i didnt have one.

Re: advice needed
LOL … Cookery school is for people who can’t cook … you need to go on select courses to hone in on skills you already have … Remember you went sewing? Well you had no ability in it … But your teacher said you had the most potential … You did your learning and left with no desire to do anything with your newly acquired skills …
… Except sew your clothes … but you lost interest in that idea too.
Now if you spend lots of money in cookery school you will indeed train to be a chef … It’s the longest path to take to get there … If I were you follow the career path of Madhur Jafery or similar person … Use your self as a brand … Nigella Lawson, Delia Smith … They did it and they aren’t half as pretty as you …
Cut through the red tape … And don’t feel no formal education will hinder you in any way … ![]()
It will only hinder you … If you psychologically let it … Ironic isn’t it? You studied psychology too … so at least make use of what you learnt in those years to brand yourself … into a business icon. ![]()
Re: advice needed
If I wanted a job and they ask me about my qualifications and what do I do? Give them a link to my blog? LOL thanks for letting me know about the real expectations.
Seriously Hareem it was a well intended advise!
If you don’t know this already, many companies ask for links to your blogs and writings on the job applications. Especially jobs in media and communication side. You do need proper qualification though. At least BA.
And I know people who quit their jobs because their blogs got very famous and payed more than their desk jobs. Not everyone can be at that level obviously but serious blogger do make money off of their blogs and then they don’t have to work for others.
The good thing about a blog is that you don’t need anyone’s investment to start off. all you need is time, organization and ideas.
I suggested blogging because you already are a regular on GS. If is not your cup of tea then thats fine.

some thing like… “oh I don’t need to learn cooking”
I bet psyah want her to learn cooking but wont say ![]()
I bet psyah is scared if she goes to psychology, guess who she is going to practice on?
Re: advice needed
I recommend you finish the Bachelors degree because without one, most employers wont even look at you. It's obvious your not going to do anything with Psychology unless you go to graduate school which you wont. Maybe transfer to a major your interested in that's food related.
On the topic of blogs etc, it's becoming more important and more companies are looking at blog and twitter, not just to find out about personality or work style issues but to see how vested you are in your field. Aside from social media, are you engaged actively in industry groups, do you write in industry publications, take part in industry events etc etc. all important.
Re: advice needed
Okay, I'm going to do the blog thing. I've been looking at some food blogs since last night and I think I can do it.
