I can almost guarantee that almost all of us in this threaded have dated, touched and maybe even kissed a na meharm
Before someone jumps on this guy, "na mehram" here is the name his favourite pillow.

Re: About those who drink alcohol
The question was if anyone would marry someone if they consume alcohol.People said no but then came the liberals picking on everyone. While you're at it tell me someone who drinks alcohol and they haven't gotten drunk once
This.
I don't see what the fuss is about.
Next thread.
Would you marry a person full of sarcasm?, because the original topic is left behind and that is what people are doing in this thread, personal attacks that's it.

That person will still be easier to understand than most posters here.
And unsurprisingly no mod has stepped in to stop it. Why am I not surprised.

Well conservatives come around doing the same and no one seems to mind that part. The preaching is okay but if people don't agree with the mythical pictures of people drinking and vomiting in toilets at parties...its sooo wrong?
Maturity...when you grow up...you get to go to grown up parties where professionals behave with much more decorum and class...its not a frat/house party scene everywhere.

Sure there are many professionals here, who get invited to such parties.
Person 1: I don't drink because I'm a Muslim.
Person 2: You're still living in stone age, you've never met a hot girl like I've met, you people need to try alcohol.
Le me: Infraction

Who said you need to try alcohol? Where did you read that anywhere?
What you wrote is a classic example of the OTT reactions to something that is not that big of a deal for most people on this planet.
You can go to a party, not drink and not have not have deal with people puking around you everywhere.
It's not that serious.

OTT
See all of you are against alcohol without having tried it.
Try it, sometime.
Re: About those who drink alcohol
Lot of people fornicate abundantly too. Doesn't really affect their personality or other people around them. Would people for the alcohol be ok with fornicators too? Obviously its way less of a sin compared to raping, lying, murdering, cheating etc.
Re: About those who drink alcohol
I'm pretty sure you missed the sarcasm In my posts.
OTT

Please rename this thread the never-ending thread

Re: About those who drink alcohol
Yes not all people who drink alcohol are alcoholics however it doesn't take long for one to turn into one.
But substance abuse of any type has less to do with the substance and more to do with the individual..the vas majority of ppl who drink are not alcoholics, nor are they binge drinkers.
But alcohol, like zinna, rape and murder are those that affect everyone around you not just yourself. Alcohol is one that can completely depress a family. I remember a poster a long time ago posting about her husband using drugs and how it ruined her life. Alcohol for me is equivalent to drugs it intoxicates you and takes you out of your senses.
alcohol is really not like murder..seriously. There are plenty of decent people who drink and live purposeful lives. while alcohol can play a role in messing up a family, just like many other things, the substance can contribute to a situation where there is trouble to begin with..it can magnify it, but can it,in itself create problems that were not there to begin with?
I have friends who laugh that oh I had this soooo many drinks last night and then blurted out random stuff, was all over the place, and threw up. Don't get how that is appealing. Even if some is a social drinker, what is to say that they don't become addicted or start drinking more if they become depressed. It doesn't take long to happen.
the drinking and throwing up is a very college thing...or a certain type of binge drinker. Again..majority of people who drink socially do not start puking their brains out...from conferences, to happy hours, to sports events...observe yourself.
I have observed something interesting in this thread: When asked a question about drinking alcohol, most people can only think of alcoholics. Drinking only means getting drunk to many people here. A person can either be a non-alcoholic or a h***** alcoholic drunk :D and that gives an important clue about our way of thinking i.e. we cannot think of moderate scenarios rather we can only think of extremes. Sounds quite familiar if we look at the situation in Pakistan. This is unrelated to my original question but I found it worth mentioning here.
Its not based on reality and treats alcohol like some big bad wolf that can just in itself make you become addicted, throw up, and go do **** you would not have done...
The question was if anyone would marry someone if they consume alcohol.People said no but then came the liberals picking on everyone. While you're at it tell me someone who drinks alcohol and they haven't gotten drunk once
how does that matter, what is the definition of drunk? FUBAR? not aware of what they are saying or doing? passed out puking in some corner?...buzzed?
also if someone who drinks at some point in time got wasted...and that was 20 years ago...does that define the way he is today? Most adults drink responsibly..There are ppl who drink a bit too much, sometimes just by miscalculating how much they are drinking, sometimes they are ppl who have drinking issues, but most of the times people who drink dont drink so much that they have no control or comprehension.

I live fornication, I think it Is a much lesser evil than union of conveniences where love, attraction, chemistry are not considered and participants are compelled to live loveless lives and sex because the parents decide what is best for you....One day If I decide to settle down and the chick has been with many guys I will take it as a compliment.

Yes that's an interesting observation. That's also why I just leave it at it's against deen, so that's why I abstain from it. That type of attitude has worked nicely in many other cases as well.
Re: About those who drink alcohol
You people have some issues. When something is haram, its haram. Stop defending it.
You don't seem to have a problem telling people how to live their lives, when you judge be prepared
to be judged, every one does haram things and it is comical to hear that my haram is better than your haram, leave the Judgement to the Almighty he has condemned to hell many that considered themselves pious and forgave prostitutes and murderers.
Re: About those who drink alcohol
A total sinner and murderer went to heaven...so don't judge many ultra pious people may burn in hell.
id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Prophet of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wassallam) said: "There was a man from among a nation before you who killed ninety-nine people and then made an inquiry about the most learned person on the earth. He was directed to a monk. He came to him and told him that he had killed ninety-nine people and asked him if there was any chance for his repentance to be accepted. He replied in the negative and the man killed him also completing one hundred. He then asked about the most learned man in the earth. He was directed to a scholar. He told him that he had killed one hundred people and asked him if there was any chance for his repentance to be accepted. He replied in the affirmative and asked,Who stands between you and repentance? Go to such and such land; there (you will find) people devoted to prayer and worship of Allah, join them in worship, and do not come back to your land because it is an evil place.' So he went away and hardly had he covered half the distance when death overtook him; and there was a dispute between the angels of mercy and the angels of torment. The angels of mercy pleaded, 'This man has come with a repenting heart to Allah,' and the angels of punishment argued, 'He never did a virtuous deed in his life.' Then there appeared another angel in the form of a human being and the contending angels agreed to make him arbiter between them. He said, `Measure the distance between the two lands. He will be considered belonging to the land to which he is nearer.' They measured and found him closer to the land (land of piety) where he intended to go, and so the angels of mercy collected his soul".Re: About those who drink alcohol
One thing I forgot to address is...
I've yet to be in a situation where anyone pressured me to have a drink or made me feel like I had to in order to fit in. In fact, one of my all time favorite drinks which is a kiddie cocktail (its literally a kids' drink but soooo yummy you'd think it was meant for adults) was introduced to me by a non-Muslim friend of mine.
A white wedding I went to...the bride's mother was so conservative she wasn't allowed to have an open bar at her wedding and that is actually pretty normal for them.
Not drinking is not just a Muslim thing...tonsssssssssssssssss of non-Muslims don't drink so its not unheard of if someone chooses not to. Its not like the table goes quiet and people don't look at you again.
Its not the alcohol we need to worry about people. I think a bigger social evil is our Dalda ke ghee mein teher te huway qormay!
