Abdullah tells Musharraf to apologize for his crimes

Firstly, shame on the cowardly tablanawaz general retard musharraf for begging for his political survival… Secondly, we, the people of Pakistan do not accept his apology and want him to stand trial for his crimes, especially that of treason under article 6! We are a sovereign nation and we should charge and try him.

Seek apology to save your neck, Abdullah tells Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: Former president Pervez Musharraf’s visit to Saudi Arabia has turned out to be a fiasco since he failed in persuading the Saudi authorities to secure clemency from his detractors in Pakistan, particularly the Sharif family.

Instead, the Saudi authorities have advised him to seek pardon and tender an unconditional apology for his unconstitutional acts directly from the people who had to suffer due to his actions during his days in power.

Musharraf has left Saudi Arabia empty-handed and it is expected that some other ‘international friends’ of the former president could intervene to save his neck. Musharraf who arrived in Saudi Arabia by a royal plane departed the Kingdom by a commercial flight.

In yet another significant but related development, Pakistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia Umer Ali Khan Sherzaie is reaching Islamabad today (Thursday) with his report on the developments in the Kingdom with reference to Pakistan. He was present during the recent meetings at the Jeddah Palace as well as interior minister Rehman Malik’s audience with King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and his interaction with Prince Mukrin and his Saudi counterpart Prince Naif. The ambassador, however, stayed away from the engagements of the former president.

The Foreign Office has confirmed that the ambassador, who assumed his assignment last month, is coming home but said it has no further details. When Musharraf arrived at the Jeddah state palace Rehman Malik, who was staying at the 4th floor of the palace, was preparing to leave for Pakistan. He simply ignored the arrival of the former president and drove straight to the airport. The Saudi interior minister provided his royal plane to the minister for the return journey.

The Saudi authorities are said to have advised former president Pervez Musharraf to seek pardon and unconditional apology from his detractors for the excesses he has committed against them while in power.

The ‘advice’ has been conveyed to him loud and clear during his interaction with King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and other senior officials of the Kingdom during his current trip to Saudi Arabia. Well-placed diplomatic sources told The News here late Wednesday evening that Pervez Musharraf, who reached Jeddah with ‘SOS’ and stayed in the state guest palace “Kasr-e-Ziafa”, had requested for an audience with the King through ‘common’ friends last month. He wanted to visit the Kingdom even earlier when the campaign for his trial under Article 6 of the Constitution gained momentum in Pakistan. But the visit could not materialise. The new tide of demand for his accountability unnerved him and he requested for the visit afresh.

Diplomatic sources have brushed aside the impression that the Saudi rulers are playing a role similar to the one they played for rescuing the Sharif family way back in 2000. That was a totally different story as Nawaz Sharif enjoys special relationship with the royal Saudi family and is held in the highest esteem.

The sources pointed out that the interest being shown by the Saudi authorities is due to the fact that Saudi leadership wants to help Pakistan in minimising its political predicaments. Peace and stability in Pakistan has always been dear to the Saudi leadership and it is understood that the special envoy of the Pakistani leadership, who had an audience with the King the other day, has also been advised to help the former president in obtaining clemency from his adversaries, especially Nawaz Sharif.

Sources close to former president, however, deny any such impression saying Pervez Musharraf is visiting Saudi Arabia on the personal invitation of the King and that he will not seek pardon. They said the king had invited Musharraf for discussion on global issues.

The Saudi ambassador in Pakistan Abdul Aziz bin Ibrahim Saleh Al-Ghadeer has made it clear that Saudi Arabia does not meddle in Pakistan’s domestic affairs and his country should not be dragged unnecessarily in the political developments of the brotherly country Pakistan. “The doors of Saudi Arabia are open for every brother from Pakistan irrespective of his political affiliation since Saudi Arabia is second home for every Pakistani. Saudi Arabia and its royal leadership are always prepared to help Pakistan in any trouble but without interfering in its internal affairs,” the ambassador said.

Talking exclusively to this scribe Wednesday evening Ambassador Abdul Aziz Al-Ghadeer reminded that late Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and late President General Muhammad Ziaul Haq visited the Kingdom several times during their tenures. Saudi Arabia had always generously kept its doors open for the people from Pakistan. “We don’t decline the visitor from this brotherly country but the political problems of this country have to be resolved by the people of this country,” the ambassador said.

The Saudi envoy declined to comment on the political developments in Pakistan and said that his country is always prepared to do whatever it could do for its betterment and well being of the people of Pakistan.

The sources revealed that Pakistan Muslim League-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif is leaving for Saudi Arabia next week to perform Umrah. He is likely to meet King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz in Riyadh. He will also have meetings with some other Saudi leaders including Prince Mukrin, chief of the Saudi Intelligence Agency.

Online adds: Leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Syed Zafar Ali Shah advocate said on Wednesday that Saudi Arabia has no knowledge of democracy and no one should intervene in the domestic affairs of Pakistan.

Talking to media outside the Supreme Court, Zafar Ali Shah said there are deep friendly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and we respect these relations. However, they (Saudis) do not know much about democracy. Each country has its own democratic system and we never criticized the monarchy system in Arab countries.

Talking about the Saudi Government asylum offer to Pervez Musharraf, he said it is Pakistan’s domestic issue and Saudi Arabia should avoid taking any step in this regard. No one has the authority to decide about the future of Pervez Musharraf. He said that people of this country have suffered due to Pervez Musharraf and they will decide what to do with him. He demanded of the government to confiscate the property of Pervez Musharraf and start legal proceedings against him to recover the people displaced during his tenure.

**Royal protocol for Musharraf in Saudi Arabia **

By Khawar Ghumman

**ISLAMABAD: The almost royal treatment given by the Saudi government to former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf during his visit to Riyadh has thrown his opponents into total confusion. **

Reports that King Abdullah sent a special plane to bring the retied general from London to Riyadh have surprised a number of politicians many of whom had received Saudi favours and courtesy.

The reports have sparked speculations that the Saudi ruling family is taking keen interest to defuse tension in Pakistan and try to use its influence to persuade PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif to give up his demand for Gen (retd) Musharraf’s trial for high treason.

It was because of these reports that a PML-N spokesman denied that any Saudi request relating to the former military leader had been made to Mr Sharif. ‘There has been no official message from the Saudi family to Mian Nawaz Sharif in this regard,’ Senator Pervez Rasheed told reporters.

He refused to comment on Musharraf’s visit to Saudi Arabia as a royal guest.

Some observers here attach great importance to the former president’s visit and say that disturbed by the persistent demand for trial made by the PML-N, Gen Musharraf wanted King Abdullah to use his influence and bail him out.

Others say it was a routine visit because Gen Musharraf has good relations with the Saudi royal family and it has nothing to do with the current political situation in the country.

Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, who claims to be spokesperson and representative of Gen Musharraf in Pakistan, said: ‘The PML-N should see and understand how the former president is being treated by the Saudi government and forget about his (Musharraf) trial for treason.’

He said it was not for the first time that the Saudi government had sent a special plane for Gen Musharraf. In the past also, he added, King Abdullah had offered the facility and Gen Musharraf kept the plane sent by king for some time for his travel to European countries.

Asked if the Saudi government had given any guarantee to the former president that he would not be tried, Mr Saif said: ‘I don’t know anything about this, but there is little possibility of Gen Musharraf facing trial only because the PML-N is asking for that.’

A senior PPP leader pointed out that frequent visits by Saudi intelligence chief **Prince Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz **to Pakistan before and after the resignation of Gen Musharraf showed the level of Saudi government’s engagement with Pakistan.

In reply to a question about any assurance given by the government to the Saudis about the fate of Gen Musharraf, he said: ‘I am not aware of this, but the way the former president is being treated in the kingdom means he cannot be touched in Pakistan.’

He said it was only the PML-N which was insisting on Musharraf’s trial while other parties were either least concerned or not ‘very serious’ about it.

Re: Abdullah tells Musharraf to apologize for his crimes

Reporters from Jang/TheNews/Geo have zero credibility when it comes to Jamati/Nawazi politics.

The reporter in the above article is giving his own opinion without citing any reference as to how he came to these conclusions. Another example of yellow journalism from Jamati/Nawazi supporters.

Look at the following part of article:

Re: Abdullah tells Musharraf to apologize for his crimes

^^ So u are saying the coward Musharaf is still is Saudi or he have got what he was looking forward for???? and you are denying the fact that (if) musharaf have left saudi, then he got the same Royal Aircraft to take him out of Saudi...which fact is wrong, please give us the right info as u seems to be the only informed person and rest of the news paper in Pakistan are either bought by NS or they just simply don't like Mushy

Re: Abdullah tells Musharraf to apologize for his crimes

One question though..

Why is it that almost all former leaders of Pakistan run to Saudi Arabia after exit from power. Why should it be Saudi Arabian leaders who decide what has to happen in Pakistan...

Re: Abdullah tells Musharraf to apologize for his crimes

^^ This is question of the year

Musharraf is far from begging for anything from our current breed of politicians. The PPP government will never take any action against him, because they are a product of the NRO, as is Nawaz Sharif and co.
As for Mr. Sharif, he is simply taking a personal revenge, nothing else. And no, the 'people of Pakistan' are not looking for any apology, nor do they care. Times were much better during Musharraf's rule than they were during Sharif's previous rule, or PPPs rule. The only 'people' asking for a trial are political jayalas, who have an interest in keeping the public's attention away from things like loadshedding, lawlessness, exorbitant prices during Ramazan, obscene amounts of loans being asked from donors in order to 'stabilize' Pakistan, most of which are no doubt going into the pockets of PPP and even PML, as hush money.

PPP is allowing Nawaz Sharif to stage all this crap only because it serves their purpose by masking all these problems. Nawaz Sharif is the one who went to the Saudis 9 years ago, begging to give him shelter, and save him from a jail sentence, which he so deserved. Wish Musharraf had not let him off the hook back then.
As for Musharraf, he has been roaming freely since leaving office, and there is no chance he will be arrested on his return to Pakistan. Thugs like PPP or PML-N certainly dont have an argument against Musharraf, considering their own worst than worse track records.

No doubt in my mind that if at all there is a case brought up against Musharraf, the (real) public will stand up against it, as will the army.

which public, oh you mean public in India and Bangladesh

Re: Abdullah tells Musharraf to apologize for his crimes

Why don't we take care of Nawaz and Zaradri first??
Has NS apolgised to the nation for his involvement in corruption??
Has Zardari made any apology to the nation for being Mr 10%????

What will Musharaff's trial or apology bring to the nation???
Tell me one problem which will be solved by bringing Musharaff to trial???

The public that actually cares what happens to Pakistan, unlike the cartoon characters we see on the streets every time Nawaz Sharif is in town, or whenever Gillani or Zardari is making a speech.
My point was, the people we hear of routinely are goons, clowns and brainwashed nutjobs, who are hired by these political parties...and these handful of clowns, despite being small in number, are able to make it sound as if its a big deal, since they use the power of media, weapons, and violence to make themselves heard.
Compare them to the other 95% of Pakistan population, and you will know the difference.

Re: Abdullah tells Musharraf to apologize for his crimes

Mush is no different, infact he went ahead and aligned himself with the lotas and corrupt politicians of both PML (N) and PPP, hence creating an ultimate corrupt force which was one of its kind in the history of Pakistan or South Asia... and now these very corrupt lotas and lifafas have disowned him... are these people who stage protest against the govt for trying the traitor we call Mushy...

BB, Zardari and NS was under his control, Mushy had golden opportunity to get rid of this bunch and provide a sigh of relief to the people of Pakistan, but instead of getting rid them, he made deals with them, which shows that he is more corrupt then these politicians...

The problem of Pakistani Generals conquering the country so often will be largely solved if one of them is convicted.

If anything, Musharraf should be tried for not getting rid of BB, Zardari and Sharif while he had the chance. He used the NRO to bring these same criminals back in, and now we are seeing what we would have never expected in million years...a person like Zardari as the president!

Aah, MQM/Musharraf supporters and their thick headedness is now sounding like utter stupidity:

1) Saleh Zafir, has NOTHING to do with Nawaz Sharif, he is one of the senior most reporters of Jang.

2) Forget Nawaz Sharif, whether he wants or not, Musharraf should stand trial for his crimes

3) Musharraf must, and should stand trial for his crimes. Whether he begs the Saudis or not is irrelevant, and whether they pardon him on our behalf shouldnt be relevant, he should face trial. Doesnt matter if he takes his 'kashkol' and goes on another begging spree. He was sidelined by Bush, and the present US regime has actually termed him an incompetent military dictator.

4) Those that are 'happy' he got VIP treatment and are citing that as a counter argument must really be dumb. Royal treatment is not what he undertook this bheekariyoon walli trip for, it was to save his skin.

PML[N] is not a beneficiary of the NRO, you are wrong. PPP IS the present Govt, they can do without the NRO now that they are in power.

Real public standing up for Musharraf? hahahahahhahahahahah are you one of those same people who kept thinking Mush’s PML[Q] will win 300 seats in the previous election? I guess this real public is a figment of your imagination, the silent overwhelming majority that never exists! :rotfl:
