Some of my male friends and I are now in the rishta seeking age (mashallah sey). One of the very basic question that comes up should we marry here (ABCD) or go back to pakistan for a girl.
Majority of us guys (ABCD or FOB) seem to favor a girl from back home (better values etec etc). I know we are being stereotypical, but thats just how it is.
Do you folks feel any advantage of a ABCD girl over a FOB?

You marry a human not a nationality . A girl from America might be more independent and liberal in her thoughts . But in the end it all depends who you can get along with . It is really hard to compare , and easy to stereotype .

Us men don't like too much independent/liberal girls. I think that's why there is the allure of going back.

It depends on a person's nature...whether UK/USA/Pakistan.

do you think or do they think, we are snooty, snobbish, lazy, thick, clever, outgoing, maybe going to stripclubs/pubs/whatever, do you think, i mean really think we are mostly clad in semi naked gear, are we proud to be westerners, do we look down on you, or do you look down on us...

i know some here say paki girls are chalaak, i dnt think so...see if they say or act the same thing we say or act, theres different names given to them and us...

Hmm i can only talk about mils rite now....don't know about b4 but now they must be (atleast 1 mil) thinking that their "western" bahus are damn stupid and weird . Ouch!

There are good girls over here in West as well. The problematic notion is when we generalize that somehow girls over here are "too liberal" and that is not true at all. There are extremely good girls with very good family values here.

Wth girls over here, you don't have to buy em a calling card every 2 days cos 'they miss mummy' and you don't need to get a yearly suscription of every asian sky digital channel

Too msny things to consider here. If you want a gal from back home, chances are she's had a really nice and easy life - maids, cooks, drivers, shoppers. What the heck is she gonna do when all of a sudden, theres no extended family around and she has to accomplish ALLLLLL this on her own? I've seen some of these marriages and it aint pretty. Sometimes it works out. Sometimes not. But either way, bringing an "eastern girl" into a western society is a HUGE thing.
When you say western girls are more independent, most desi guys think "loose". But the reality of it is that the girl is every bit as moral in her ways as an eastern girl but knows the realities of western life - ie., no servants so cook, clean, shop, do laundry,clean toilets etc.
Dont be fearful of eastern girls, they know the score here, they are just as nice, they have as many morals and are not afraid of doing the down-n-dirty stuff that needs to get done.
