btw...my aunt once told me that she uses sour cream in her karhi to give it that khatta taste which usually is absent in the one we make with regular yogurt.
I tried it once ,and it tasted good,and the karhi base was thick too,just the way i like it...too bad it added another gazillion calories to the already million present in karhi...:(

You can also get the khatta pan if you leave the yogurt out of the fridge over night. Next day when you make karhi, yougurt will be little khatta and will make yumious karhi. You can also add little juice lemon while cooking...

Sheal thats what i thought too but there is a brand of yogurt avalible in Middle eastern and Pakistani grocery stores called Dana. Its labeled as Laban yogurt i think and comes in a regualar yogurt like container. It tastes really really khatta. Thats what i used and it looked like normal yogurt, wasnt liquidy like lassi.

adding TATRI OR CITRIC ACID MAKES the karahi khati...

i agree with u 100% yeah i add about 2 packets of laban up plus i used normal yoghurt too...it tastes so namkeen n khatta yummy!!! but in karachi u kno u alwayz get khatta unfresh dahi so no need to add more khattapan... u kno wat i even add omellette cut in strips in the karhi...i can guarantee all u gurls tht it will taste heavenly!....make a plain omellete just add salt...and then cut it in pieces and add in while u add pakoras in the karhi....yum yum!

Chipsy, awwwww, you want me to bad mouth it? :smiley: Btw do what i do, if i make something thats huge, i send some of it over to the mosque. The guys there love it when they get home made stuff since some of them are bachelors/students etc. Thats exactly waht i did last night too. Hubs gave a portion of the cake to his friend who then i dont know why, put it in the masjid kitchen. Hubs didnt know he did that so when ppl came to thank HIM for the cake, he was like, huh? :hehe:

for some reason, that made me smile… so sweet of u to send the cake and it ended up somewhere else… and even sweeter that the guys came to thank…awwwwwwww!!!

Plusha, the omelette idea sounds intriguing. I think i will try it next time i make karhi. I am not sure if it will add any taste to it but it might be tasty with the karhi itself. Oh man, thanks for making me crave karhi now :(

Loki gosht…well not at all satisfied with it cuz firstly m not fond of loki n secondly i think the oil wasnt enuff…i lyk the layer of the oil on the suface…but anywayz everyone else loved it…made it on my sweet grand ma’s farmaish!

it waz goat ka meat...its the haddi u kno..i justtt loveee the inside part of it ...its called the bone marrow i guess...thnx btw!
