Re: Aaj kya pakaaya/khaaya

^Yum! I haven't made lasagna in such a long time, thats my mission for the weekend!!

Can I please have the recipe for the tandoori pie?

Re: Aaj kya pakaaya/khaaya

Only me in my family actually liked it - kids and hubby weren’t so keen on the pasta sheets :smack:

Okay so chicken tandoori pie you will need

ready roll pastry ( from asda/walmart or any other big supermarket )
boneless chicken ( i used about a 1lb and half )
tandoori/bbq laziza masala packet
youghurt ( pakeeza )
lemon juice
cheese ( of your choice i used cheddar )
mozzarella ball
vegetable oil ( 2 tb spoons )

  • First wash chicken put aside
  • In a bowl depending on how spicy you like it add half of one packet masala
  • 5/6 tablespoons lemon juice, 2 tablespoon oil
  • mix 3/4 tablespoons of youghurt into mixture then add chicken and stir
  • then you can either store in fridge for 1 hr or put in a pan on gas and cook for 15/20 mins until cooked
  • let it cool then shred chicken
  • make two balls of pastry and roll out pastry for the base and line the dish (first grease the dish withmargarine/butter)
  • put the shredded chicken into the pie dish and cut some mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese in the dish also
  • finally roll the remaining pastry and put on top and fold sides neatly , if you want use egg wash on top but its optional

Enjoy and let me know how it turned out with pics ofcourse :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Aaj kya pakaaya/khaaya

Thanks.. So I googled for the alternative and looks like in the us it will be pillsbury refrigerated pie crust..will try this recipe soon!

Re: Aaj kya pakaaya/khaaya

^thanks for looking it up...... hopefully I will make this soon (with pics of course)

Re: Aaj kya pakaaya/khaaya

I think this stuff contains lard. But you can always double check.

Re: Aaj kya pakaaya/khaaya

True. At least for me I wasn't sure what was needed a puff pastry or something else. Now that I know its a pie crust it makes it easier. Most likely its going to have to made at home......every other thing that is a refrigerated dough has to have lard in it!

Re: Aaj kya pakaaya/khaaya

^ oh great... Time to google another substitute for me ;)

Tonight will be lauki daal, eaten without roti. I mean... my husband can have roti. I need to cut down my carbs! Haha.

Re: Aaj kya pakaaya/khaaya

Made these a couple of weeks ago:
Chinese–veggie hakka noodles, broccoli tempura, chicken corn soup, chilli garlic sauce (made it myself)

Mexican…spanish type rice, guacamole/avocado salad, black beans, and chicken quesedilla (I know thats not how it usually looks..but its the closest to what it was)

Re: Aaj kya pakaaya/khaaya

Everything looks so delish!! If you don’t mind me asking what seasoning do you use for the haaka noodles? Also time for me to fess up but I have never made chicken corn soup even though its quite popular on here. Can I have the recipe?
