There is no doubt that Ataturk changed the course of Turkish history with his secular policy. And changed it FOR THE BETTER.
Pakistanis may want an Islamic state, but the majority of Pakistanis are illiterate people who don't know what's good for them. Its up to the leaders to lead the stupid masses in the right direction. A quote : "the common man is an idiot" comes to mind.
And who says America is formed upon Christian values? Most Americans totally shun religion.
The debate is endless. The people who want a religious state are clearly in the majority, therefore their opinion has prevailed throughout the history of Pakistan. The results are now in front of us. Pakistan has become a ticking time bomb.

are you part of the stupid and illiterate masses? please say yes.
Um, I have read more books about American History than I've about Pak History since I'm very interested in how it started from scratch and became a World Power.
Good so you know that the very first Pilgrims were Puritans. A extremists element within European society that came to the new world to practice their christian faith. They killed the natives or forced converted them. None of your books covered this?
As a matter of fact, I do know this. I do not argue that America was founded by Christians. Only that with time the Christian element has diminished to the extent that it is negligible.
I really have no idea what a marine would think, but I know personally that most Americans have given on their religon. I don't know, perhaps war and harsh conditions make you more religious. No idea.
And the reason I want a secular Pakistan is because IT IS a personal matter. I just don't want religious interference in the government. I don't aim to stop anyone from practicing their religion. I'm quite religious myself although many would say otherwise.
I don't know why all these type of threads ended with Secular Pakistan or Shariaah Pakistan debate.
I don't know why it's hard for people to understand the separation of Religion & state is a must one for the country like Pakistan, because of over whelming presence of other sect(s) of Islam & minority religions.
Let me buy it for a minute that Pakistan made on the name of Islam, well ..but did it work? Nope 1971, religion didn't stop breaking of Pakistan, it can't.
After 1971, our security establishment gave us a new dreams to live on, and that was "Fort of Islam". Well this fort of Islam is dependent on the world money & resources to even help its own citizens. How low state of Pakistan have to go, we have countless threads going on who donated what, how much? We are mentaly "bhikaari", that's what this flood proves.
I firmly believe Pakistan will cease to exist if it didn't change itself radically towards full freedom for religions, where state have no interest in people religious life's, heck even Lebanon type of government will work.
Lastly, Pakistani's with-in the country and in the foreign countries must stop having wet dreams of world domination on the basics of violent pyscho self-made religious teaching, example: infidel's, status of zimi, pyscho type hatred towards Indians & Jews.
