A country's religion..

I have a question ..

There is one Quran, one Sunnah. Classifications of Islam have come in over the years ( example, sunni, shia, ahmadi, wahabi etc etc ) , but minus those classifications, religion : Islam is one and catering to the muslims as a united ummah.

**Based on that fact, should a country like Pakistan , or any other muslim country , have strict guidelines to adhere to as a nation? guidelines that are Lawfully enforced. Should a country have its strong , cut out written basic religion, sans any complications? **

The reason I ask , lately I have been wondering if Pakistan is confused about Islam. Do we actually know what our basic religion is? its values are? Clearly we are confused , otherwise we wouldnt have so much biddah , superstitions, radicalization in Paksitan. Molvi’s are badnaam , average pakistani is far from religious values …

But if we have a standard basic religion ( shariah Law) in place with strict legal implications, the religion that molvi’s will teach in madrasss/mosques/homes/ schools , will be scrutinized and held accountable for giving out wrong teachings. Eventually this will raise alot more unified awareness of the basic islamic values in the janta … which might also become a step stone to character revolution in the nation. Example , more awareness of bribery punishments in Islam, Awareness of Islamic implications for ignoring hakook ibad etc …

I hope i am making sense .. I really feel right now , hardly anyone knows what the basic religion is … this includes the top shariah scholars and the genral janta.

Re: A country's religion..

It doesn't have to be 'Islamic' in nature. Just basic common sense human values if infused in students at madrassas or schools should be more than enough. I think every religion discourages hurting people, cheating, murder, bribery, etc., encourages good conduct, encourages helping others and condemns evils. Even most of the 'secular' nations are more Islamic regarding these values than 'Islamic' countries.

The disagreements are on minor details like physical manifestations of prayers, technicalities of ibadah, which God being merciful will hopefully ignore if we have a good neeyat.

P.S. How is going to decide on 'wrong teachings'?

Re: A country's religion..

Pakistani media including journalism and Starplus and Zee tv etc is the biggest danger to the society, just sort this out and you'll see the positive change.

Re: A country's religion..

just enforce total shariya law as said in teh quran and watch the diff

it works for saudi arabia. dont see why it wouldnt for pakistan. oh wait right... the ppl in power would make sure it wouldnt work. they would be the first ones to go then.

Re: A country’s religion..

really? what is changed in the most hypocrite society of the world ?

I wonder if oil didn’t discovered, our Arab Buddo’s still looting the Pilgrims :chai:

Re: A country's religion..

**khawateen, **Saudi Arabia has mixed it with elements of their backward patriarchal culture that often goes against Islam itself (such as the rule that Saudi girls can't marry foreigners without special permisson, obviously it's considered unIslamic to rule out a potential partner on the basis of race)..

Re: A country's religion..

"Enforcing" religion is the most ridiculous thing a state could do. How can Muslims talk of enforcing Islam on the state if Holy Prophet himself never did it?

Those who want to enforce "sharia" or any other flavor of Islam, should find a separate place for themselves instead of enforcing it on an entire country. There are still many vacant islands on this planet, they should move there, enforce whatever they want and show the results to the rest of the Muslims to follow.

Re: A country's religion..

I think this bumper sticker would sell great in Pakistan;

"Have you kissed a Sheikh lately?"

Re: A country’s religion..

why would our maadran pakistani qaum want the shariah law? T’is too backward for them, don’t you know? :halo:

Re: A country's religion..

It's amazing to see women supporting the sharia law! and I used to wonder what went wrong.

I am sure these women haven't read the laws yet.

Re: A country's religion..

there is no shariah law in Saudi....it's their version of islamic law.

but Saudi is stable and safer than pakistan.

Re: A country's religion..

ok funguy here's the deal.... this is called "All Views" ... You express ur views, and others express theirs... What you need to learn is to accept that there will always be differences in opinion and you need to stop criticising everyone for their views... I see you arguing with CM over his posts and then u feel the need to respond to everyone else's posts... Chill!

Re: A country’s religion..

heeeeeeeh the only reason islamic ruling wont work in pakistan because of the mentality we pakitanis hold.Saudis no doubt may be the most hypocrite but islam has given us one of the finest guidelines and made the muslim less of ****ty people when they followed. No doubt in arabia rarely a saudi gets punished BUT in no way its any indifferent/better to laws made by people.

Re: A country's religion..

Barb, Are you serious woman? What makes you think that what I write is not "my view". It's part of all views, no? Me criticizing another view is my view.

And like the great Pakistani comedian once said "if you enforce sharia law in Pakistan, 90% of the public will loose their arms"

Re: A country's religion..

Tell us.

Shariah law is the word of Allah swt, isn't it.

Tell us what u understand by shariah law and why u are so paranoid about it... fire away.

Re: A country's religion..

The only word of Allah is the Quran.

I have no idea where the sharia law came into existence. Pakistanis started talking about it when Zia used the religion to take public focus away from his dictatorial coupe of gov't.

Re: A country's religion..

I too agree there is no such thing as Sharia by Allah. Shariah is a man made ideology by some Muslims who think it's the best interpretation of Quran. It's only their thinking, we don't have to follow it.

Re: A country's religion..

Ok cool... so lets forget about the word "shariah" for now... coz this word kinda makes us jump every time... Lets use "islamic law" instead... Islamic law as detailed in the Quran.... Islamic law that covers all aspects of human life including modesty, debt, marriage, prayer, women's rights, tax/insurance, funerals, justice, inheritance etc etc....

My question is, if we properly followed the Islamic law in Pakistan, in the following 5 areas:

ibaadah (worship),
muamalat (transactions and contracts),
adaab (morals and manners),
i'tiqadat (beliefs),
and 'uqubat (punishments..... with which not everyone agrees in the present times, including myself)

would we or would we not see an improvement in the country's situation IF everyone was to follow the islamic guidelines properly... ?

Re: A country's religion..

well .. what Pakistan? this thread is about Saudi ..and where did you found word "Pakistan" in my post?

Re: A country's religion..

No its not. Read CB's original post again. Her question is regarding Pakistan mainly...
