Hey there people!
So here’s the deal. I’ve been living in the US for many years and haven’t been to Pakistan in 6. Now, I am getting married in January '09 and feel like I am completely out of touch with some of the latest trends.
I know I want to be a ‘red bride’ so thats not my issue. What I hace questions about are:
Q1- what colors do brides tend to wear on their mehndis?
(I have a feeling yellow is out)
Q2- what color works best for Valima?
(Since I’ll be wearing a bold red for the baraat, I’d like something different for the valima)
Q3- I have always wanted to wear a nath for my wedding. About a month ago, I got my nose pierced. Do brides usually wear naths these days?
Q4- I’ve heard brides are very “delicate” these days. I dont plan on looking like a monster from ‘‘bride-al hell’’ but I do plan on standing out as the bide.
Hey, I’m the bride! I’m supposed to be over-dressed!
Hi!
Well for mehndi yellow is still in! But you can have a combo. I wore yellow and red mehndi suit while my sis wore a yellow and turquoise suit.
For walima you can choose a lighter colour coz on barat you'll hv red lhenga
As far as I'm concerned, a dulhan without nath is looking "unfinished", as if there wz somthing missing. All this year's dulhans wore naths :)
But that's your wedding and wear what you want to wear, you don't have to follow the trends if it doesn't please u!
Anyway, hope u'll hv a wonderful wedding!

Omg! I lcompletely agree! A dulhan with out a nath feels incomplete! hi 5!
lol.. I was thinking about a deep turquoise with another color too..
Q1-
hey do check the thread "bridal pix" i posted a model/actress's mehendi pix those colours r really in.....olive green shokin pink etc u will get an idea from there Q2-
off white...white...tea pink...champane ...grey as Gina said the pastal shades :) Q3- yeahhh wear wotever u think looks good on u :) they even wear matha patti on head the traditional the style the better
Q4- ofcourse u should look like a bride girl i would sai go for a traditional look on shadi and a bit mod look on valima this will give u a different and trendy look :)
Well I'm not fond of Mattha patti! I prefer the jhumar, as I said earlier a bride without nath looks incomplete but even without the jhumar. In fact, I think the nath and the jhumar have to be put together.
dont say that :( im not wearing a jhumar or a nath...cos i have a round face & the jhumar lukd awful :( and i hate my nose so dont want anymore attention on it... im so jealous!
apart from that mehndi- im wearing green with yellow, green & pink
shadi- maroon with antique gold & purple lehnga
valima- off white/cream gharara
dont worry pakistan has sooo much variety ul have no problems finding nething, good luck xx
matha patti's are kinda out now...jhoomars are always always in.
naths are coming back in as well...so if you want to wear it, go ahead.
also the trend is to go completely traditional on barat day, ie have the hair tied back, traditional colors, the heavy jewellery etc, and to go contemporary on walima, in which you can have your hair open, colors are usually lighter.
