“A 2-0 Indian series victory will not merely put gloss on an encouraging revival from Rahl Dravid’s team - it will lift them level on points in second place with England in the official Test rankings.”

Dravid has opted to bat again? You are kidding. There is just no reason for India to bat again. Enforce a follow-on, for Pete's sakes.
Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007
Oh, boy. Another day, another error in judgment by Ian Howell.

India 10-2
Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007
Before India’s innings had started, Shastri talked about the possibility of Dhoni being promoted up the order to boost up India’s run-rate.
Sachin has walked in after Karthik. Wonder what happened to the promotion. ![]()

Tendulkar gone, inside edge stumps are all over the place.
India 11-3

Holy Barnacles! The middle-and-leg stumps out of the ground. What a delivery.
Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007
Anderson 4 overs 4 maidens 2 wickets. :)
Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007
Another plum LBW, absolute plum. Ian Howell has been a total disappointment.
Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007
Anderson and Tremlett should be brought back in, now that Laxman is in the picture. Don't understand why Collingwood is being persisted with.
Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007
Is India batting to save this match ? I don't understand.
First of all I don't agree with the decision to not enforce follow on when you already have a 300+lead on a wicket that seems to be getting difficult to bat on. And now, the way these two are batting plus Dravid's batting earlier makes it seem as though its England who are on the driver's seat.
Cricinfo says this :
Tea : A very odd session with **86 runs from 32.4 overs. Not much fun for a capacity crowd, especially when Rahul Dravid was at the crease while making a turgid 12. Sourav Ganguly was the only batsman who looked like getting after the bowlers, but it's worth remembering that India are in complete control and they probably already have enough runs to make the game safe. Will they declare and give themselves four sessions to bowl England out, or **is Dravid's mind more on a safety-first (and second) strategy?**
Dravid - 12 runs in 96 Balls (that is 12 runs after eating up an equivalent of 16 overs) ....JESUS !!
I don't want a "SERIES VICTORY" to come through such negative, unreasonably defensive manner.
If India contrives to draw this one, I will consider this series 1-1 in my mind considering that England were robbed of victory in the first test.
Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007
What the hell is India doing. Why didn't they enforce the follow on and than secondly batting like morons. Vaughan must be one happy man.
Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007
Rahul Dravid .Get rid of him. What a sick display .Such negative approach!.
Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007
Frankly, it is disgusting and shameful.
Dhoni & Laxman are still batting as if they have a test match to save.
I have always been a fan of Dravid, but I am hugely disappointed in his ultra-defensive approach in this test.
Never seen anything like this.
Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007
India lead by 456+ runs...not enough for Dravid.
I think we should target a lead of 800 runs and aim to declare by Lunch tomorrow. Then , surely, we would have won this series.
Such sickening captaincy.
Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007
Even the English commentators like Botham, Nasir Hussain and others are baffled at Indian tactics.

What tactics...there are no tactics... this is UTTER COWARDICE.
C'mon man....have some balls....the English team is not exactly full of Don Bradmans.
