3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

After my super performance at Trent Bridge (I started that thread), I hereby start this thread for the 3rd test.

That reminds me, if F&B had not started the thread for the Lord’s test…India would have been leading 2-0. But I guess the damage wrought by F&B cannot be undone now.

As regards the 3rd test :

Here’s my recommendation (none of which are likely to happen):

Sree Santh OUT , Ranadeb Bose IN
Haven’t ever seen Bose bowl, but he just took 5 wickets against Sri Lanka A (1st innings). So he deserves a chance just like Sree Santh deserves a punishment.

Dhoni OUT, Yuvraj IN
Dhoni scored 0 and 1 against Sri Lanka A. His wicket-keeping has been poor (though he did not miss chances in the 2nd test). It is ridiculous to leave out a hugely talented batsman (who has been amongst runs) for the sake of Dhoni.

Good job Some1. I was having urge of starting the thread for 3rd test for last one week. I controlled myself so that you can start the thread.

I think Seesanth will be dropped and either Powar or Bose will play depending upon pitch conditions.

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

Supposed to be a bouncy pitch, so I think Sreesanth will play. Powar may be brought in for Kumble though.

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

Yuvraj Singh has not only been scoring runs, but he has been doing so quite consistently. 31 and 18 vs. Sussex, 59 against England Lions and 15 (17) + 33 (40) against Sri Lanka A. Only recently he has up the ante of scoring at a brisk rate against Sri Lanka A. He is slowly getting into his rhythm, and it will be illogical to leave him out of the third and the entire test series while having mediocre players in the side.

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

ok..I now want a 3rd wicket-keeper in the side in place of Laxman (or Jaffer).
Parthiv Patel is performing solidly with the bat for India A.

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

Knowing Indian think tank, they will not drop Kumble.THough I like the Idea. I still think Bose will play in place of sreesanth.

You don't change a winning combination.

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

Dhoni ,because of him this series is 1-0 to India .Otherwise the scene would have been 1-1.

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

44-0 after 12 overs, India playing good.

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

^ Not so quick..abhi line lagti hai. 193/2
Ideal conditions for the little master i.e. no pressure.

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

199/3 now. A couple more wickets and India will bat themselves out of the match.

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

That is why I used word 'trying' ;)

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

I'm not much into cricket. I dont understand these 'test' matches. There is no limit on how many 'overs' you can play??? Why is that?? Also, Can I watch live action online anywhere?

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

Actually there is. You can only play a maximum of 90 overs per day.

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

Collingwood to Ganguly, OUT, well, the part-time bowler has made the breakthrough. The ball again nips back at Ganguly who is taken on the pad and a loud appeal is upheld by Ian Howell...*but, oh dear, the replays show a big inside edge and Ganguly is unlucky. Collingwood gets his second scalp of the series, and both have owed plenty to the umpires *

SC Ganguly lbw b Collingwood 37 (77b 4x4 1x6) SR: 48.05

Another day of Test Cricket, another wrong LBW decision.

Doesn't matter who gets the wrong decision, this thing induces a big dose of "luck factor" into the game - which should be completely unacceptable in this day and age.

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

India 300/4 now.

The problem for India is its very long tail.
Dhoni comes in after this . He in not a very reliable batsman himself and then we are into the long tail.

India must look to have at least one decent all-arounder amongst the tail.

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at The Oval - Aug 9-13, 2007

India 316/4 at Stumps

2 wickets to the Umpires today.

India should look to put up 500+ on this seemingly batting friendly wicket.
