Time for Inzi to step up and build a 200 runs partnership with Younis. Younis is playing a bit carelessly though. If the batsmen go into the defensive mould and try to bat out the remaining overs, they'll surely fail. The only way to survive is to keep scoring runs.
You know, I thought there was only SO MANY times you could get caught behind or in slips driving at the ball. You'd think that unless driving was the only scoring shot in your repertoire (ala Yaisr Hameed), you could try driving less and get out in other ways. But Salman Butt thoroughly disappointed us there.
Well, save this game and fight for a series draw next match? Hope so.
Lets hope both of these players can stay till tea. They have the potential to do that, have delivered it several times under pressure and there is no reason they can't do it again.
Things to fix (both short term and long term), i.e., things that needs coach's attention:
Yousuf: takes off after hitting a shot whether he wants a single or not. It was not the reason for his runout today but we have seen this numerous times.
Younis Khan: Is a bit high on his praise, and is trying to even improve his 'fighter', 'single stealer' reputation. Unfortunately for us, his cheeky singles are causing runouts. Needs to improve his calilng. Miandad did it without getting his partners out.
salman butt played a similar shot yesterday and almost got out..and he does iit again...too much bottom hand in that shot..u dont play like that against the new ball..taufeeq omar was too nervous against monty..he should ve looked to block a few...run out was also a result of nerves i would say that was not a run, not even in one day.iqbal did'nt know where his off stump was.akmal is the only who got out on a good ball.
