It's so important that these two openers try to see the situation differently. Forget about the pressure, the total etc. Just think, if you can deliver today, when Pakistan needs you most, then you have a permanent place in the side for a long time to come. Because seriously, you will hardly come across tougher situations than this.

Salman Butt has been our BEST prospect for the opening position in the past couple of years. There's no other contender for hte opening position for the next match, I hope this helps him in feeling secure and he plays well today. He had hit a mental block playing against Irfan Pathan, and I hope for his sake and Pakistan's sake, he gets out of it today. Amen.

I never was a Taufeeq fan, but he has looked more solid in the space of a few overs than Farhat ever has.
Then again, he might get out any minute now and make me eat my words. :p

Even the law of average (low average even) is in Salman Butt's and Pakistan's openers' favor this time. I hope it works.

Taufeeq had an excessive footwork problem, and Salman Butt suffers from a fishing habit. But IMRAN FARHAT had a temperament problem, that is difficult to fix without getting dropped. I hope Butt has recovered and Taufeeq has fixed his footwork, because these two DO HAVE good temperaments as openers. They do pace their innings very well when they are in form.
