OMG - Pakistan looses all the matches in the tournament and infact gets slapped twice by the Australia 'A' team and you tell me Pakistan is better than India which reached the finals and beat Pakistan as well ??

About Australia-WI - May I remind you that Australia has already won bothe ODI and Test series.

Are you telling me Sohail Abbas was not there in all the matches Pakistan lost against India this year ?? Excuses and more excuses. For once accept that Pakistan is not better this year. :)

Yeah, just like tendulkar was there when the mighty Australians raped the Indian cricket team in the final

Looses??

Paindu :hehe:

Look who is talking - :hehe: In The World Cup First the Australians, then the English and then Indians did the same to the Pakistani team in the presense of Wasim Akram, Inzamam ul Haq , Waqar Younis, Rawalopindi Passenger, Saeed Anwar… :rotfl:

Not to forget the 1999 world Cup Where the Australian had done the same to you in the Finals.

PS :- The difference is I am not telling that India is better Team than Australia, But you are telling that Pakistan is still the No. 2 team in this tournament after they lost all the matches.

**India looking for revenge **](http://www.planetfieldhockey.com/Item-View-7183?PFHSESSID=b6ff51ed15c179aa1b7e350b6b56cae9)

After a week of riveting hockey, the teams renew their rivalry in the second leg of the three-nation Hockey Australia Men’s Challenge, which gets underway with a match between India and Australia in Sydney on Wednesday.

The match at Wollongong offers India the perfect opportunity to avenge the two defeats they suffered against Australia in the first leg of the tournament in Perth.

The Indians lost to Australia in a league match and then in the final, where they conceded two goals in the last five minutes to lose the match from a winning position.

But India’s overall showing last week was commendable as they beat arch-rivals Pakistan and also Australia ‘A’.

India coach Rajinder Singh sounded optimistic about the challenge ahead when he said his boys are ready to take on the mighty Australians, who are likely to make few changes to the side that played the Perth final on Sunday.

“I am expecting a major change in the Australian side, which I feel will be very different than the one we played against in Perth.”

But he was quick to add that the players are keen to perform well and continue experimenting in Sydney as this will be their last chance to fine-tune their skills before the Champions Trophy in Amsterdam in August.

“We played well throughout the tournament in Perth. We were unfortunate to lose the final but the team’s showing improved with each outing,” Rajinder Singh said.

“Here we will be sticking to our task of trying out new combinations and strategies with an eye on the Champions Trophy and next year’s Olympics,” he added.

Despite finishing second, the first leg gave the Indians the opportunity to try out new combinations to strengthen their defence, which was till now considered a weak link.

Former captain Dilip Tirkey showed his class in the matches against Pakistan and the final in the company of Kanwalpreet Singh and Jugraj Singh. The much-improved performance of the defenders denied the Pakistanis from forcing a penalty-corners till the 50th minute. The defence also hardly gave any space to the rampaging Australian strikers either in the final.

The veterans, including skipper Dhanraj Pillay and Baljit Singh Dhillon, shone in Perth, scoring at crucial moments.

Rajinder was pleased with the showing of the seniors in the side, saying the veterans gelled quite well with the youngsters.

“It was good to see the veterans and seniors playing in tandem. Their performance here augurs well for the future of Indian hockey.”

Despite emerging stronger after the Perth meet, the chief coach said he will be making some changes to the side for Wednesday’s match.

“I am still thinking about whom to drop, but I know two or three players are feeling the fatigue and need rest,” he said.

Though the chief coach declined to go into details regarding the changes in the side, sources close to the team said three young players – Tushar Khandekar, Sandeep Michael and Prabodh Tirkey – are likely to play in tomorrow’s match.

After tomorrow’s opener, India’s next match will be against Australia ‘A’ on Thursday.

On Saturday, India take on Pakistan, who open their campaign in the tournament tomorrow against Australia ‘A’.

The Pakistani side, without penalty-corner expert Sohail Abbas and former captain Mohammad Nadeem, who were dropped from the side on disciplinary grounds, have been quite disappointing in the tournament which could serve as a jolt to their preparations for the six-nation Champions Trophy, which will also feature Australia, Germany, Holland and Argentina besides India.

Nothing has gone right for the struggling Pakistanis, who came to Australia after winning the prestigious Azlan Shah tournament in Malaysia in March, as they suffered defeats in all their four matches in Perth.

The second leg schedule:

June 4: Australia vs India, Australia ‘A’ vs Pakistan

June 5: Australia vs Pakistan, Australia ‘A’ vs India

June 6: Rest Day

June 7: India vs Pakistan, Australia vs Australia ‘A’

June 8: Australia ‘A’ vs 3rd placer; Final: 1st vs 2nd.

Ex-Olympians blast team’s performance in Australia](http://www.fieldhockey.com/)

LAHORE, June 2: Former Olympians, Munir Dar and Khawaja Zakauddin, have criticised the performance of the Pakistan team for finishing a poor last in the four-team hockey tournament in Australia.

Besides Pakistan, the other teams in the competition were Australia, Australia “A” and India. Pakistan lost all four matches.Talking to Dawn, Munir Dar said that the team’s performance proved that the introduction of new faces to substitute the seniors had not been effective.

Munir claimed that in the absence of three senior players, namely Muhammad Nadeem, Sohail Abbas and Wasim Ahmad he had anticipated such poor results. All three players were excluded from the team after they did not report to the training camp and preferred to play league hockey in Germany.

Munir remarked that the team had only two World class players in Sohail and Nadeem and there was no one to replace them.He admitted that Sohail had some flaws as a full-back but his ability of scoring goals through penalty-corner was outstanding.

He suggested that the PHF should sit down and decide once for all what kind of hockey Pakistan should play in future. He contended that Asian hockey had finished after various changes had been made in the rules.

“They are neither playing Asian hockey nor European. They have forgotten their own style while copying others” Munir lamented. He said that 3+3+4 or 2+4+4 style could be effective for the Pakistan team.

Munir urged the players to concentrate on their play instead of chasing money. When asked if lack of technical expertise in the PHF is creating hurdles in building up a strong team, the former Olympian stated that it may be possible however, he added that PHF was providing best available facilities to the players and now it was upto them to deliver the goods.

“The players are now earning money but greed for money is dangerous as the dignity of the nation should be the top priority of the players”, he said.Zaka said that although he was not expecting a miracle from the team but he had hoped that they would at least beat Australia A. He said being defeated twice by the ‘A’ team disappointed the entire nation.

Zaka came out in support of the three players who missed the tour for playing in the German league.“Yes” the seniors committed a blunder, but now it is time to forget the nightmare and look ahead as the time for Champions Trophy is running short", he said. Both Munir and Zaka also criticised the decision of not including Muhammad Sarwar in the team.

I said that because I knew some moron like you will come to this forum and say that anyway. :)
But then satire is not ur cup of tea.

^ Nice try.
Looking at their performance in this tournament, it would be a miracle if Pakistan wins. But let’s hope Pak wins! :k:

Hockey games always used in old days best match teams from India and also Pakistan. Then germany came, holland also came but lot of people came. Why Australia is winning winning? No secret I think - only because they playing with fast speed also I think more money many be? But still I think with even littel money India or Pakistan come and win.

Also because of India was losing cricket match (South Africa in one or two months before) may be India winning hockey? Because how one country win all games?

:konfused: :smack:

Anyway Welcome. :salam:
