23 years down the drain?

I don’t get it. Why did Allah swt bother revealing the Quran over a period of 23 long years if, at the end, we humans were to decide being a good person is enough and we need not be following the Quran?

Why am I missing out on the “good” stuff like alcohol and sex if all it’s going to take for me to enter jannah is compassion for other beings?

Re: 23 years down the drain?

Molvi much :smack:

Re: 23 years down the drain?

Discuss nai karna to chup karo.

Re: 23 years down the drain?

Because you are answerable for your own actions.

Re: 23 years down the drain?

That’s quite a vague answer. :konfused: Please elaborate.

Re: 23 years down the drain?

i didn't really understand your question.......

is it
why the quran was revealed over 23 years??

or

why people choose to ignore the rulings and follow their self-defined 'goodness'??

Re: 23 years down the drain?

Yes. What is the modern criteria for that goodness anyway?

Re: 23 years down the drain?

perfectly suited to a vague question..:chai:

Re: 23 years down the drain?

I think that is generally said to promote good societal behavior, so you don't believe in huqooq el ebaad?

Re: 23 years down the drain?

Useless. :vivo:

I shall answer my own kuveschun.

Bukhari :: Book 4 :: Volume 54 :: Hadith 538
Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah’s Apostle said, “A prostitute was forgiven by Allah, because, passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover she drew out some water for it. So, Allah forgave her because of that.”

I think that says it all.

Re: 23 years down the drain?

Who says that? The condition for entering jannah from what I know is to have a particle of iman. Entering into jannah one day doesn't mean that a person won't be punished first. So from my understanding I'd just say that by having compassion, being nice to others and all, the only thing we're not doing is making our actions against them a liability for ourselves. However, just that is not enough either. We have other duties too, which we can also be taken to task for.

Re: 23 years down the drain?

define what do you mean by 'modern'.......

goodness is always subjective ... means different things to different people.........but i guess the main thing about the modern 'goodness'...is.........as long as you don't hurt anybody......its all good.....

oh and one more thing..

"its between me and my god"......thats like perfect excuse i hear from people who are involved in 'questionable' stuff....

Re: 23 years down the drain?

I believe in both huqooq-ul-ibaad and huqooq-Allah.

Re: 23 years down the drain?

that doesn't in anyway mean that a someone indulge in prostitution and do the other good deeds.........or does it??

Re: 23 years down the drain?

No it simply means Allah swt is the judge and He's the most forgiving. It's always down to a person's niyat.

Re: 23 years down the drain?

and not actions :konfused:

Re: 23 years down the drain?

Do you what I like about you BBC? You say whats on your mind regardless of what people may say. Also, I agree for me both go hand in hand.

Re: 23 years down the drain?

Intentions for their actions :smilestar:

Re: 23 years down the drain?

should have said it before … ‘all that matters’…:vivo:

Re: 23 years down the drain?

:hehe: I get pain in my tid if I don’t say what’s on my mind. I don’t think I have said anything offensive anyway.

My maths teacher used to say a mathematical equation is like a body - you can’t just go around chopping bits off of the body without a valid reason! (When students just eliminate parts of the equation to get the desired result the easy way :stuck_out_tongue: )

In the same way, even though we have the power of free will and we can choose what’s best for us, I just don’t agree with chopping off bits of Islam to suit our own lifestyle. You need both arms (huqooq-ul-ibaad and huqooq Allah) in order to be a complete person.
