That is awful! I am so sorry. My fiance wants to wear what you are describing to the Valima instead of a suit.. he thinks that will make it more of a match with my outfit since they will both be desi style! I lectured him and set it straight! For his shervani he is choosing something that is not my first choice, but it’s not bad either, so I’m ok with it. After all it’s his wedding too.
Maybe you can convince him to go with a more traditional longer length shervani, and something very simple with just some kaam on the neck and sleeves. Enlist the help of other girls to convince him that his choice will make him look like the western equivalent of refugees that try to dress like Americans with tight black jeans and broad shouldered tight waisted biker jackets!!
^No, that's not what my fiance picked, lol. Good thing you laid down the law! Haha. Argh, I told him he is lucky that he is getting to pick what he wears (unlike me on my walima day), but it still has to pass the approval of his parents & my parents. And what he picked just won't fly. I know it's his wedding, and most of all I want him to feel good about himself, so he can enjoy it. When he started looking @ sherwanis, he just got in this frame of mind where he started picking things that he thought would make him look a certain way (as opposed to things he would normally wear)- does that make any sense? Like he is trying too hard. Boys are so stupid. It's ok, he is over it. He said he'll look for another one. I found a couple that I think he would look great in, but he doesn't want those anymore. Whatev.
Muslimah118 - sorry to hear that and if the link which A squared posted is what he wants to wear I'm truely sorry! That is not nice at all - its horrible no matter what color or kapra you get it in. Can you just go with the angle that you want both of your clothes to match and thats not going to go with your jora? Or I agree with A Squared maybe get the help of somone on his side maybe his sisters or Ammi or cousins - anyone you are close to??? Or has this catastrophy already been purchased??? If so then is there anyway of talking him out of it?? Dont cry - its not worth it but I really hope it works out. :)
Thanksss. No, it's not the link A squared posted, but I think it's just as bad! And no, it's not been purchased. I just posted that last night cuz I was so frustrated. He picked this weird blazer-looking sherwani with ugly patchwork, but before that he had picked this sherwani with flames- yes, FLAMES. I asked him if he was a biker, and he was like, "What? It's soooo coool!" Anyways, he will have to pick one that looks normal. I am praying that God gives him some aqal. lol.
0_0 flames?? LOL i'm really sorry to hear that! iA you guys can look through some together and find one you both like..
by the way do any of you know how to go about renting furniture for the shaadi stage? like the loveseat and side seats.. i've contacted a lot of decorators around town but they only offer a whole decoration package with the backdrop, etc. i really just need the sofa. :(
I thought i read you wrong when you wrote "flames" so i had to read it a few times!! :o OMG where did he find one with flames and I guess the real question is who sells them with flames on it??? Well Allah ka sukhar that he did not purchase it and if you make a strong enough point I'm sure IA he will get one which you think is nice also. I know what you are going thru bc my fiance also wanted to wear something I didnt quite want him to - it wasnt as bad as the "flames" though - but we talked about it and MA everything worked out - now we are finding something we both like and mainly him bc he is the one who is wearing it. Good Luck :p
Farisha - its kinda hard just getting the sofa or like just a jhoola since the decorator wants the whole package. I guess they are thinking what if I get another shaadi on the same weekend and they want the whole package. I acutally just booked our decorator and went thru the same thing bc I like another decorator's jhoola but she wouldnt rent it to me unless i went with her for the whole event. What you could try doing is locating a few and waiting a bit until it gets closed to the date and then calling again since the decorator would rather make some money then none at all if they dont get an event for that day but its taking a huge risk since our sofa's are the main focus of our stage. I hope IA you find something you like :)
DJSidra - light pink will look amazing!! I’m actually planning on wearing light pink for my nikkah. Something like this but with lighter kaam on the kameez - i light the color combo since ill be wearing zewar with garnets.
I def think you should make it different from your cousins - you know how girls can be. Look at this one below - its from HSY - its beautiful
Someone just donate me a dress :( since I just can't find one!!!
Why cant you fine one??? Are you trying to find a style or the actual jora??? Process of elimation if you are trying to find a style - I have been looking for pic's for months now for each event so when I go to Pakistan I know exactly what I want but its soooo difficult bc you like so many - it will IA work out dont stress :)
Someone just donate me a dress :( since I just can't find one!!!
I had that problem, too. Don't worry, you'll find the right one. I had to acquire a taste for the red color family. Save everything you come across, even if you just like one teeny tiny thing about it. And save the file as a description of why you like it- "pretty sleeves" or whatever. You'll figure it out. And when you finally order your dress, THEN you won't stop stressing about whether it will be perfect or not! Hah.
Yeyyyy... I finally got the shopping done for mehendi day... and I am sooo exciteddd!!! I got a mustard and green outfit.. need to get it stitched though.. which has me stressed out because I want it to turn out perfect..
But the jewelry, chooriyaan, purse, and shoes are all done... for the mehendi day :)
now 3 more days to worry about.. mayoon, nikkah, and waalima...
I just finalized my colors and cut of outfit. So when I go to Pakistan, I'll hopefully find something awesome! As long it fits nice, looks great, and I can afford it...I'll be happy :)
I wish I had more time to really enjoy the shaadi planning, wedding will be here soon!! :-/
