Re: 2011 Brides
What about if you got a gold set with diamonds (or something similar) in it. That would give it the ‘silver’ look as well.

Re: 2011 Brides
Honestly, most jewelry won't clash, regardless of what you're wearing.

Re: 2011 Brides
Hi Everyone!
I joined GUPSHUP like two weeks ago and this is my first post! Initially I had been visiting the forum to collect ideas for my brother’s wedding in Pakistan this June. However, I just found out over the weekend that I am also getting married along with him, so I couldn’t resist but post here in "2011 Brides" topic. Congrats to all of the other 2011 brides as well!
So, since we live in the states, we don't get to stay in touch with the Pakistani trends as much. Thank God that I came across GUPSHUP forums while googling for bridal pics. I must say that I found some really gorgeous bridals while looking through each page of the 900 + pages "Bridal" topic. I have collected several pics from the topic and showed to my khala in Pakistan. Hopefully I can get something nice made for me and my sister in law.
Re: 2011 Brides
As per the discussion about silver kaam and gold jewelry, I also like the idea of gold jewelry with diamonds/zircone etc. My cousin got married last year and her outfit was also red with only silver kaam all over. She wore gold jewerly with roses carved on it and each rose was filled with zircones. It looked really really nice and went really well with the red (silver kaam) lehnga.
Re: 2011 Brides
Congrats djsidra thats awesome! Bhot mubarak ho! Your cousins outfit sounds pretty - the zewar sounds nice too. I'm leaning towards that now gold with diamonds in it. Do you have any pics of her outfit & jewerly???
Congrats again! :)
Re: 2011 Brides
^Oooh how exciting, congrats on your unexpected engagement!

Re: 2011 Brides
Thank you Pathan, Muslimah, and Farah for such a warm welcome. I do have her pics, but reading from other's posts, I probably can not upload pictures until I reach 25 posts. So as soon as I do that, I will try to upload pictures of her dress and jewelry.
Re: 2011 Brides
For my Walima, I want to wear a mexy lehnga, but I have not been able to find any good pictures on the net. I found one by DRESS REPUBLIC, but it is in banarsi. I want to see styles in chiffon and other light materials.
Re: 2011 Brides
Browse through the bridal pics thread for ideas. And btw, websites like bargello and dress republic only have pics of designer dresses that they copy. They don’t have any designs of their own. Here is a maxi style that I saved to my comp. I think it’s HSY.
Re: 2011 Brides
Thank you Muslimah. This looks really gorgeous. Does anyone have any idea of how many kaliyan they put in the mexy?
I won't be able to go to Paksitan to get my dress made, so I am having my khala do it for me. I told her that I want a mexy with a lot of flare and she asked me how many kaliyan I want in it, or how many yards should the flare be in the round. I have no clue at all! does any one know?
Re: 2011 Brides
There are 16 kaliyan which is like lots of ghair, She can actually ask the tailor for it k wedding dress mei how much kaliyan is used and tailor can tell them very accurately.
Re: 2011 Brides
Uffff that style is really pretty! Djsidra thats a good choice! Which colors will you be choosing??? Muslimah - great pics! You can see the entire dress :)
Re: 2011 Brides
hey there,
i´m going to pindi for my shopping in march and the wedding is in july-inshAllah :) but haven´t decided on the walima colour...some1 plzz help
Re: 2011 Brides
Pathan26, I was thinking of wearing light pink on Walima, but this white mexy looks really gorgeous too. I wonder if this would look just as pretty in pink.
one of my cousins got married last October and she wore a chiffon mexy lehnga. The mexy was champagne color (at least that's what they called it) and her dupatta was light pink. The mexy had kaam on each kali from waist to the bottom, and the top was filled with copper/gold sequins work. It looked really nice and unique. That is what made me want to wear a mexy lehnga too, but I want to make the style different from hers, so it doesn't look like I copied.
Re: 2011 Brides
As long as you find a design that you like the cut & kaam, you can make it in any color you want. Browse through Elan's collection. They have lots of maxi designs. Or, if you find a lehnga/gharara that you like, you can easily turn that into a maxi.
Re: 2011 Brides
Ughhhhhhhhhh I need to vent. My fiance picked the *ugliest *sherwani!!!!!!!!! It's so gross- it doesn't even LOOK like a sherwani. It looks like a blazer that got recalled. This is his way of getting out of wearing desi clothes. And dude, his job wasn't that hard- I'm not a big advocate of desi clothes for guys. I prefer the plain kurtas & sherwanis, and he does, too. I thought we were on the same page. He liked some of the ones I showed him a while back. But now, when it's time to place an order, WHAT does he pick? OMG sooo ugly like barf city. It's got patches of velvet and random designs over. It's so CHEAP. I was so surprised- we usually have the same taste in everything. And now he's mad at me for not liking the ugliest sherwani, which he called "the most awesome sherwani I've ever seen." I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Ughhhh
Re: 2011 Brides
@ Muslimah118- YIKES!!!! So sorry to hear that girl... Can you talk him out of it... rather than going the straight up fugly route; say it won't flow with your outfit, won't pop in pictures, the qullah/sehra cloth/design is not available in his sherwani style... anything less harsh?? If he still insists he wants it... how about get him to wear it at another function and not baraat/valima?
Good Luck... may the fashion forces be with you
