A 10 year old girl has given birth to a baby in Spain. Details like the sex of the baby haven’t been revealed. The father of the baby is also said to be a child.
This isn’t about how right or wrong it is to give birth at 10 because we kinda know the overall opinion of people in this matter.
I’m more interested in the custody issues. Do you think the child mother should be allowed to retain custody of the baby?
Yes.She should be given the rights.I fshe knows how to give birth to a baby at this age of 10 years, she should be given a chance to handle the baby .
A Spanish official says a 10-year-old girl living in the south of the country has given birth.
Micaela Navarro, the Andalusia region’s social affairs minister, says authorities are evaluating whether to let the mother and her family retain custody of the baby, born last week in the city of Jerez de la Frontera.
Navarro told reporters that the father of the baby is also a minor. Her department declined to give further details, such as the sex or health of the baby.

Spanish newspapers said the mother is of Romanian origin. The daily Diario de Jerez quoted medical staffers who treated the girl as saying they were told by her mother that giving birth at such a young age is common in their country.
One more baby.One more …
A 10-year-old girl has given birth in southern Spain and authorities are evaluating whether to let her and her family retain custody of the baby, an official said Tuesday.
The baby was born last week in the city of Jerez de la Frontera, said Micaela Navarro, the Andalusia region’s social affairs minister.
Navarro told reporters the father of the baby is also a minor, and both the mother and the baby were in good health. Her department declined to give further details, such as the sex of baby.
Spanish newspapers said the mother is of Romanian origin. The daily Diario de Jerez quoted medical staffers (Spanish)](http://www.diariodejerez.es/article/jerez/826227/una/nina/apenas/diez/anos/da/luz/bebe/kilos/hospital.html) who treated the girl as saying they were told by her mother that giving birth at such a young age is common in their country. The mother also told staffers the young girl lives with her boyfriend there.
The paper reported that the girl had a relatively uneventful birth: she did not require a cesarean section or to be admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit.
Medical experts warn that because young girls are still growing themselves, they are at higher risk during pregnancy. Studies have shown that teenage girls are more likely to give birth to premature babies and their infants have a higher chance of dying by age one.
hmm I dunno... giving birth and actually bringing up a child are two very different things... I wouldn't want a 10 year old babysitter for my child y'know... Ofcourse the girl's parents/relatives will have to support her.
At the age of 32,I am sitting here as a bachelor like a `nose closed canon',and here one 10-13 year old child has done the majestic work. Kudos to him :)..Keep up the good works boy.... :)

Then removed.
Then thrown in boiling water.
then rinsed dried and put oil on
and then would be set on fire.
I think she should be given the child....or maybe the custody should be given to her parents. But they should not take the child away from her...I feel that the baby always needs the mom...and to have the real mom would be great..not a foster mom.
I'm more interested in the actual event than the custody of the child. I mean, the mother of the girl said that it's common for girls in their country to give birth at such a young age and the girl lives with her boyfriend. A TEN YEAR old girl lives with her boyfriend? lol :p
no one would give a damn to this news, but if a 11 year old girl actually got married with parents and her consent, in a Muslim country, we would have global moral police all over Islam and its child molestation practice
I don't agree that mother should have the custody YET. Mother's parents themselves failed to protect their 10 years old kid from getting pregnant, how on earth they can be trusted with one more minor! The child should be taken care of by social services and once mother is able to understand the concept of parenthood, should be reunited with her.
^I disagree- looking at it from psychological perspective infants needs moms/caregiver someone to be attached to and to bond with, to build the trust/love relationship with. Who is gonna raise the child while the biological mother is understanding the concept of parenthood? Who is going to decide that the mother is ready to take care of the child? and then the child by this age has probably build a bond and a relationship with the caretaker, so is it fair to separate the child from the caretaker and throw them in to a stranger's lap(biological mother would probably be a stranger to the child now since someone else brought him/her up)
and who is gonna make sure that while the mother is 'learning parenthood', she won't be popping out more babies?
Personally, raising a child is harder then reproducing a child. I think she should deal with her consequences of the action. Since, there are no guarantees that the child will be brought up in a better environment if they do give him/her to social services. And the mother will probably end up learning her lesson for having kids at a younger age.
