Sorry you are wrong, the whole 11 years of Zia were a nightmare for the people of Pakistan and as a nation we are still paying for his pathetic and shallow policies or lack of them. The guy divided the whole nation and created MQM to counter PPP and dont know whether you read G M Syed’s last interview before he died. He was asked why did Zia give him the visa to go to to India and he said he asked zia the same question and the SOB replied because you were anti Bhutto. That was about his level. What the PTV plays had to do with Zia I am not aware. If the press had been free like it is now he would have met the fate same as Musharraf much earlier in his misrule.

The army was defeated after the blunder they made of not handing the power to Mujib and not before, so the blame lays squarely on the shoulders of the army and its incompetent generals and not Bhutto. So what demoralising effect are you talking about. It was the sole responsibility of Yahya and his drink buddies to hand over the power to the winner which they failed miserably to do so.

Ok let’s agree to disagree. The point is real islamists such as Khomeini or Mullah Omer w’d have banned all entertainment on TV (and they did!). I actually do not admire anyone apart from Jinnah (wish he had lived another 3-4 years after independence, he would have given us a system of governance, constitution etc.) and Liaqat Ali Khan. I salute those two leaders for their honesty, sincerity and integrity and have the utmost respect for them
