Let's face it, tying a kid to your roof is not an ethical thing to do. The Border Guards should be punished. However, next time they will just launch a couple hundred tear gas cannisters, and probably hit some kids with them. THAT is somehow considered "Acceptable" crowd control.
In the Intifada I, the rules were well established, and the rock throwing kids and the Guards knew there were limits. Now the Border Guards have to figure there is probably some guy in the crowd with a gun, and if he gets the chance he will shoot it, hoping that the Guards overreact. The cat and mouse games have escalated to the point of danger for all involved.
If it were not for the COMPLETE absence of the Palestinians from any type of peace initiative, one could imagine things getting better. The settlement of the Palestinian question is marching along without the Palestinians. When the fence is complete, and the settlements are abandoned, the settlement will essentially take place without the Palestinians having a voice at all! Throwing rocks at a wall will solve this problem.....
