Zinda Bhaag is releasing in Pakistan on September 6th. YEAYYYYYYYYY.
It recently beat movies such as the reluctant fundamentalist to win 4 awards at the MISSAF film festival in toronto including best film, best actress in a lead role, best supporting actress, and best sound track.
Here’s the official movie trailer:
I love how the movie creators have paid homage to old lollywood through it’s sound track, costumes, and even posters. The official poster of the movie is hand painted by the last surviving poster artist of lollywood, S Iqbal. Such a talented man, here’s a short BTS on him creating the poster.
Critics have described the movie’s OST as “very pakistani” and an ode to the golden days of lollywood. It includes a remake of Pani Da Bulbula
Here’s a teaser of Pani Da Bulbula
I hope the distributors release it nation wide. they have been doing alot of viral marketing but that doesn't usually achieve much in pakistan. if they want people in theaters, they need large posters all over cities, in newspapers and on telly. the music should be playing every where!!
Looks interesting but it looks like a Pakistan India collaboration because the treatment of the film feels Indian. Are the actors Pakistani and is it shot in Pakistan ?
The movie is directed and written by Farjad Nabi who is a lahore based director (of "nusrat has left the building, but when?" fame) and Meenu Gaur(paradise on a river of hell), a delhi based director. She's frequented pakistan during the kara film festival and is also doing a documentary on karachi. The producer, Mazhar Zaidi is pakistani. The studio "Mateela Films" is owned by all three. They've worked together in the past on more serious documentaries/artsy projects.

The music is also by a pakistani.
Farjad, Meenu and the lead actress were on Faisal Quraishi's latest show talking about the film.
Oversees pakistanis who can’t see this in theaters, please do what you can to support this project by buying their awesome music. I am in love with all the songs especially the following:
You can buy the songs individually or the whole album from amazon instant music and itunes. It’s super cheap so please buy it instead of downloading for free. you won’t be disappointed: Amazon.com: Zinda Bhaag: Various artists: MP3 Downloads
The feel of the movie comes of as Indian because, the cinematographer happens to be an Indian. So the lighting and the framing of shots appear more in line with the Indian aesthetic than Pakistani (although I don't know what classifies as pakistani film aesthetic anymore)
I saw the team on sahir lodhi's show and really enjoyed their interview. Farjad and Meena mailed a rough draft of the script to naseeruddin shah who loved the script so much that he called them up himself and expressed interest in being part of the project. Pretty impressive i must say.

I agree with all you said.
Meenu, one of the directors, is Indian.
