Sahir Ali Bagga has done wonders with the soundtrack. Its got our great artists like Arif Lohar, RFAK and Abrar ul Haq alongside new talent such as Amanat Ali and Saleema Jawwad.

Re: Zinda Bhaag- Releasing September 6, 2013

I think they pushed it to Sept 20? Is it released yet?

Re: Zinda Bhaag- Releasing September 6, 2013

They got pushed because there were too many 'other' movies that were backlogged :s which i guess to mean Bollywood flicks coz we only have a couple of pakistani flicks in theaters.

Re: Zinda Bhaag- Releasing September 6, 2013

Glad to hear this. It's looks like the right kind of film; relevant and lighthearted.

Re: Zinda Bhaag- Releasing September 6, 2013

For the first time in 50 years ? Which was the other one 50 years ago ?

Re: Zinda Bhaag- Releasing September 6, 2013

50 years ago Pakistani film 'Ghunghat' (The Veil) was submitted for the Oscars in 1963 but wasn't nominated. 'Zinda Bhaag' will be the third submission in total.

Re: Zinda Bhaag- Releasing September 6, 2013

Saw this flick -- it's darkly hilarious (in portions) but this is really off-beat non-commercial cinema with some song and dance thrown in. Great acting by the three male leads. Not exactly the movie for an evening out, but if you're looking for some sombre social commentary told Lahori style, go for it.

Re: Zinda Bhaag- Releasing September 6, 2013

Did the movie feel Pakistani or Indian ?

And was it shot on location in Lahore ?

Re: Zinda Bhaag- Releasing September 6, 2013

^^ Shot on location in Lahore and the language spoken throughout is hardcore Lahori Punjabi -- to understand which I had to strain my mind (and still ended up not getting most of it). Has a Pakistani feel with plenty of references to Pakistani cinema and truck-art/local culture (i.e. gaudy dramatic and over the top) thrown in.

Re: Zinda Bhaag- Releasing September 6, 2013

In the promos, Nasir's accent doesn't sound authentic, but then, he is not Punjabi - so no big deal.

Re: Zinda Bhaag- Releasing September 6, 2013

as pointed out by a reviewer:"Unlike some of the more in-your-face releases, Mr. Gaur and Mr. Nabi’s screenplay never stoops to overburden the ambiance of “Zinda Bhaag” with undue theatrics."
take pointers Shoaib Mansoor!!

Re: Zinda Bhaag- Releasing September 6, 2013

Here's a good summary of the movie:
What works for “Zinda Bhaag” is its full-circle theory. We see people – not characters – pushing through a system, with their own choices. There’s a level of pluck – especially with the film’s dialogues – that makes everyone human here. And yet, like real people, “Zinda Bhaag” isn’t flawless (none of us are), but its idiosyncrasy is what makes it relatable. Like that certain relative one cares about, likes a lot, but not really loves.

Re: Zinda Bhaag- Releasing September 6, 2013

^^ The dialogues are great but the film, owing to its narrative style (flashbacks and anecdotes every minute) and language used is not very accessible. The story in itself comprises of stuff you would see as a news item in a current affairs journal or a documentary on some channel. So overall, not exactly great entertainment but thought provoking nevertheless.

Re: Zinda Bhaag- Releasing September 6, 2013

I hope all the theatres in desi theatres across the US. With translation. Even most pakistanis don't know such heavy punjabi.
