First i thought we got good islamic scholar but when he said in the last week in Alif program on Geo channel that we should allow muslims to beocme christians. After that he does not deserve any respect.
Itni is ki umer ho gai hai but Is babe ko itna nahin pata keh Islam aya kyun tha.
agar pata hota to kabhi aysi baat na kerta.
Bare bare mithe scholars dekhe but he is a ridiculous scholar i have seen in the history of Pakistan.
Jawed Ghamdi is probably one of the most well educated, enlightened Islamic scholars produced by Pakistan. His opinions or beliefs are based on inedepth knowledge of Arabic language, research and objectivity.
I may not always agree with him, but thoroughly respect him for his integrity.

18plus: I agree with you. Though, I don't know or heard of this guy, but the very FACT you mentioned, is absolutely against the whole spirit of Islam, it's like denouncing Islam.
Ravage: Ever heard of "Murtid" and the treatment to be given to one? No offence pls. laikin agar aap ko itna hee nahin pata keh "kyoon aya tha Islam" and why this particular comment of the scholar is offensive, then I think you need to spend some more time (may be all of your time) with your Enlightened Dog :D
didn’t you know the moment there is one scholar who says something negative and it gets posted here.
Our hindu community loves to come forward and bash us all Muslims by saying such and such scholar is so right etc…
seirously its a stupid war that we have on gupshup. They wont give up and nor will we. So i decided to ignore them you do the same… so how was the weekend?
Larki I know what Murtid is and I have some idea of why Islam came, but I dont hold the issue of people converting out of Islam as integral to that question. I dont see the connection, perhaps you can explain to me why having a different view of the issue of Murtid undermines the basis of revelation for Islam.
I may religiously disagree with a lot of things but I dont hold that disagreement as a negation of religion entirely.
18Plus sounds 12Below in the starting post, and even if you agree with his perspective on Islam you shouldnt really accept such childish expression.

Thanks Nia. I agree with you. Will heed your advice :) Will let u know in my Pm abt my weekend ;)
Strange how you dole out this advice when a little up in the thread you advise me to talk to my dog and belittle my knowledge of the religion. Catch me making jokes about his nick/age, while ignore the post above where he tells me I have zero knowledge about my freaking religion.
This isnt surprising behavior for me, obviously looking at the number of my posts, I have been around. Nor are you two persons of any especial interest to me. Im only replying since you address me, and because I have posted in this thread.
I havent commented on him as a person, I have said the views hes expressed are childish, which is perfectly valid given that hes put them on a public forum. Hes said I have zero knowledge of Islam, which is a bit personal and going beyond what he knows about me, but I dont mind.
I dont expect you coming back with a well reasoned (or even badly reasoned) answer to the points I’ve put to either you or 18Plus (since his age is such a sensitive matter but others having no knowledge of Islam isnt). You two will keep beating around the bush, coming up with one liners, or even completely irreelevant replies, that will have absolutely no effect on the validity of any of the points anyone else raises in this thread, except for those who agree with you.
Ravage I agree with you. the concept of murtid and whether the punishment described is for all times and in all circumstances or was specific to a time or specific to an occassion where someone does it just to try and double cross you etc hurt your interests. When people write about th whole mrtid thing, they seem to forget te clear statement that there is no compulsion in religion which is stated very plainly.
hey I did not know about Ghamdi, but now I will try and read up more on his work.
